I thought #KOSA was dead. Guess it was merely... resting there for a while. Those kinds of bills, like #FOSTA and #SESTA, are a problem and I hate that they pretend that it's about protecting kids online when it's not, it's about control and #censorship, particularly of info kids (or anyone else) may need.

Take sex trafficking. Kutcher and his organization, #Thorn, were key to securing the passage of #SESTA/#FOSTA, a law that was supposed to fight online trafficking by making platforms jointly liable when they were used to facilitate trafficking:

Fair enough! But of course, this butts up against one of the Fediverse's shortcomings: it isn't particularly useful for promoting illegal speech that *should* be lega, like the communications of #SexWorkers who were purged from the internet en masse following the passage of #SESTA/#FOSTA. When sex workers tried to establish a new home in the fediverse on a server called #Switter, it was effectively crushed.
