Pretty much every single time, at least one of the last films on my to-do list is whichever nominee for Best International Feature is the last to open here in Indianapolis. I wish I could've gotten to the Spanish drama Sirat when it screened at last year's Heartland Film Festival, which was on my shortlist but got cut because their lineup was too impressive for me to get to everything I wanted to in a single week.   7. Buscar la siguiente fiesta puede ser buscar la última, o puede ser que esta ya haya sido vivida y se desconozca que no quedan más provisiones lúdicas, escapistas, en la guantera.

    Yo esperaba hallar una cadena de parkineos arenosos en Sirat, y me di de bruces con un dramón rodado con espíritu de Lawrence de Arabia, Shakespeare y la Hammer.

    Entre un telúrico elenco novel y un aplicado Sergi López (un poco fuera del rol en escenas como la rave postrauma), Laxe hibrida una narración que resume muchos éxodos a través de una comuna migrante, las raras y el extraño (esnob), logrando de paso normalizar la convivencia entre personas con diversidad funcional y distintos orígenes y lenguas. Todo por salirse del sistema. Todo por mejorar. Todo para encontrarse. Aunque el mundo explote al lado, y delante.

    Para encontrar hay que perder, decían los dioses míticos si se les pedía que usaran su gracia a nuestro favor. Y sus peticiones son más afiladas que los banales intercambios entre la humanidad. Un padre, con su pequeño, busca a su hija. El desierto en realidad es el principal personaje, y el único que no tiene miedo. Deidad de arena. Hambrienta. Sangre por sangre.

    Los antihéroes (de estética y ética muy del Toro) ruedan sobre el dios y hasta esa etiqueta les pesa, quieren ser leves, y el trance es la vía. Son personajes poco desarrollados, lo que dificulta la empatía porque Laxe acaba llevándoles a la anestesia emocional (a cambio, hay giros -no todos...- impensables que derivan en imperdibles). Quieren estar porque no saben si merece la pena ser. Y se hacen nómadas inútilmente: tras el horizonte hay más de lo mismo, como dentro de nosotres hay más nosotres.

    Quizá el desierto, su soledad minada, se lleva dentro. Si es así, da igual cuánto se camine, no termina nunca. El beat tampoco.
