I don't talk enough about DRUIDE, the language for articulating design uncertainty that @mounadhaouadi designed for her MSc thesis. It's a very good synthesis of concepts for describing the uncertainty that people have during the process of modelling.

We recently developed an entropy-based metric to track the consistency of coding conventions used in test suites, as one element of their quality.

Many changes in entropy betray significant low-level events in the development of the test suite, such as the introduction of different libraries, or the progressive adoption of new naming conventions.

Dear #SEResearchers, I need advice. In a paper I'm reviewing, the authors report some literature results using words like "affect", "influence" and "explain" that suggest #causality. I was suspicious that the cited articles would show causality and wanted to warn the authors to be careful which vocabulary to use when reporting past results... (1/3)

Dear #SEResearchers, given that it's faculty hiring season in the US let me take the opportunity to toot the horn a bit for working in Europe.

EU unis often have a good funding situation, access to very strong students, lower-pressure promotion evaluations, paid vacation and parental leave, and reasonable work/life balance. Also, in the EU universities tend to be in the center of major cities ;)

Consider if a strong university in Europe would be a fit for your career goals.
