In Japanese dramas I usually struggle to get attached to ML. They're either too grumpy, too bossy or too introverted.
This j-drama overcomes this problem by having a Korean ML respecting #kdrama ML standards. It's a perfect blend between a culture I fail to understand, the Japanese one, and another much more approachable to me (the Korean one).

A short, light and refreshing comedy.
Popular tropes are used, but sometimes there's even a bit of sarcasm around them.

It's a classic Korean #romcom though with a modern take. Main characters behavior is not always the one I expected.

Incredible chemistry between the lead actors and cute second couples. Too bad the mystery around Sang-pil isn't revealed!

I binged the 8 episodes of #SerendipitysEmbrace and I'm sad to report that it didn't live up to its initial promise. The setup was really nice with roles and relationships clarified quickly. Unfortunately, once everyone was matched up in relationships, there wasn''t anything too interesting that transpired. Kim So Hyun is an extremely talented actor and she carried the series.with her bestie, Kim Da Som doing a good job as well. The males were pretty vanilla, IMHO.

Serendipity's Embrace
(2024 - Viki, 8 1:10 eps)

What could have been a very cliche story about a cold, smart, successful ML encountering his 1st love, who isn't interested in relationships, ends up being refreshing. Common tropes seem about to happen but tiny twists, like communicating, setting boundaries, & advocating for yourself keep the story fresh.

Great chemistry between all the couples, with great acting. The 3rd ML needs a main role soon. It's short, so the themes are a bit shallow. The story wraps things up nicely with justification for the characters' actions (except one - without much backstory, it's hard to understand the reasoning).

It's a cute, mostly fluffy romance with many high school flashbacks. We see the leads grow to understand themselves better. It definitely could be a comfort watch, but don't expect profound revelations.

That’s Serendipity's Embrace finished. This was short but so enjoyable. I loved it! I didn’t like the Mum for most of it though. There are so many happy endings (all the ones I’d hoped for)! #SerendipitysEmbrace #KDrama
