I don't know why I am drawn to revisit the 9/11 attacks, but I am. I talked to my kids about it, and I found one kid friendly video about it and showed it to them. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hgP_XsAzeRo My kids were curious about it. My older son (7 years old) asked why the attackers did it.
After the kids went to sleep I found a documentary about 9/11 by National Geographic and watched it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wMXxyCohWi8
It was super powerful. Lots of footage of people trying to survive in the chaos of that day. Examples of heroism too.I am grateful to those who tried to help on that day. It is a reminder of what really matters.

24 years ago today, America fell.
It took a while to finish happening, but in the end, bin Ladin won.
Not because of the attack itself. But because of our reaction. It galvanized all the wrong people: Nationalists, neocons, Christian fundamentalists hell bent on starting religious wars... All had been working to grow for years, but the attack kicked the all into high gear.
bin Ladin didn't destroy America. He made Americans destroy America.
The question is, can we rebuild it?

On this day in 2001, al-Qaeda allegedly hijacked four planes as part of a series of attacks often referred to as the September 11 attacks, 9/11, or Manhattan Raid.
Two of those planes crashed into the World Trade Centers in New York City, one crashed into the Pentagon, and the final plane crashed in a field after passengers attempted to regain control. The final plane is suspected of being destined for the White House or Capital.
