This is an interesting situation. I don't have all the details of the situation so take my observations here with a grain of salt. The plaintiff's argument that SEPTA cutting busses before regional rail discriminates against Philly's poorer residents seems valid to me.
On the other hand, forcing SEPTA to empty its bank accounts to keep the system running, without money coming from the state to replenish those funds, seems dangerous to me in the long term. We desperately need to upgrade our rolling stock in the coming years, how are we going to do that without some money in reserve?
Ultimately SEPTA is not at fault here, it's the good-for-nothing Republicans in the state Senate that are causing the problem by vindictively refusing to fund transit in PA. But I doubt there's any way to sue them, so plaintiff took the only route available to them to get vital transportation services restored.

We all knew that failing to fund SEPTA would make it harder for Philadelphians to get to school and work, and now we are seeing that play out. The negative impact this will have on the state economy is enormous (to say nothing of the direct impact on peoples livelihoods), but that's a price Republicans are willing to pay to performatively punish cities for existing.

To my fellow #septa riders, especially but not only regional rail: crowded conditions are only going to get worse. Please:
- Fill every available seat. More standees in the aisle slows everything down.
- If all the seats are full, move as far to the front or back of the cars (away from the doors) as you can to make more room for standees behind you. They are coming!
- Start moving to the doors before your stop.
- When people get off at Temple or UPenn, fill the seats they vacated.

Probably won't take the Pennsylvanian again since the seats were all backwards - I assume this is because it turns around in PHL to head west to PGH and that's the longer leg. NE Regional is frequent enough that I can avoid it if I'm just going down to Philly.

This stairway leads to the service tunnel under the 15th Street Market-Frankford El station platform. I've never seen it lit before and am very curious to see what's under there. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the stairwell gate was locked.

This channel has its claws in me with the SEPTA content. Here's another video I quite enjoyed about Regional Rail. I actually don't use it much, since the Broad Street lines, Frankford-Market lines, and driving gets me to where I need to go. (Though I wish there was a regional rail stop closer to my workplace so I wouldn't have to drive as much. 😑)
The quick history lesson regarding the rail lines was also a lot of fun.
