It's #KpopMonday, and for the #SadSong theme: IU and Seo Taiji's Sogyeokdong (소격동): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHu39FEFIks
Melancholy lyrics about memory and disappearance, and an MV with a cute story of a boy and a girl, but filled with dread just out of sight...
The MV is set in a specific historical context of South Korea in the 1980s, from Seo Taiji's childhood: https://askakorean.blogspot.com/2014/10/history-behind-seo-taijis-sogyeokdong.html
The Seo Taiji MV version makes the story even more clear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WH0iiU0cv00

In the mid-90s Seo Taiji and Boys were effectively the first K-pop group. Sure there was Korean pop music, such as trot, but this trio was the blueprint for much of the Hallyu Wave music.
Also, noteworthy that Yang Hyun-suk went on to found YG Entertainment, one of the key companies in the industry.

Yay! It's #KPopMonday. The theme this week is #HistoricalConcepts. So, the first thing that comes to mind is Seo Taiji's Sogyeokdong (소격동) which is on one hand a love-story set in his childhood neighbourhood, but is also about life under military dictatorship in South Korea in the late 1970s and early 80s and the democracy movement.
There are two versions that were released sequentially - IU's version first:

Wer bei dem Hype koreanische #Musik geil zu finden gern mitmachen möchte, aber mit dem ganzen #KPOP Zeugs nichts anfangen kann, dem sei das Album "Seotaiji IV" von #Seotaiji ans Herz gelegt. 😬 🤘 Ich würde sagen: #NuMetal auf #Koreanisch.

TXT "Come Back Home" Cover (original song by seo taiji)

I've been making some Youtube playlists today and it's been fun to go thru old BTS Award Show and Song Festival mvs. I'd forgotten how fire their cover of Class Idea was .. allllll the way back in 2016 .. metal Joon and an early Jay sighting! 🔥 :ablobdj:

This speaks to my Bangtan heart and my 90s Metalgirl heart, and I can't even express how much I love it. Look at our boys in their coats with legend Seo Taiji.
"I'll make you worth more more than the kid next to you. Step on their heads one by one! You can be more successful. Why don't we change instead of squander off our youth with anxiety?"
Listen for the No More Dream reference. Oh Yoongi!
