    While commenting on #dotnet #SemanticVersion issue github.com/dotnet/runtime/issu I re-read the commentary from years ago that made up one of my favorite software versioning stories.

    SemVer had a bug in the spec where case (in)sensitivity was ambiguous.

    Disambiguating it (either way) is a breaking change.

    We needed to mint a new SemVer spec major version.

    SemVer versions don't indicate their spec version.

    No path forward. Semantic Versioning is done at 2.0.0. My bad. 😂
