They knew yesterday it was unlikely they would be able to get today's game in with a forecast of 97% chance of rain. The 1932 Sox had a .325 winning percentage, and .259 would be clearly worse.
To avoid the franchise loss record with only 105 losses, the team would have to go 36-45 the rest of the season. That's a .444 winning percentage. To do better than last year, with only 100 losses, they'd have to go 41-40, a .506 percentage. The latter isn't happening and the former seems pretty unlikely.
