Die Transportstrecke führt mit großer Wahrscheinlichkeit einmal mitten durch #Hamburg, von #Harburg über #Wilhelmsburg, #Rotenburgsort, #Horn, #Wandsbek, #Barmbek über #Eidelstedt und dann weiter nach #Pinneberg und #Itzehoe.

#Castor Alarm, das hört sich an, wie ein Weckruf aus den 90er Jahren. Aber es ist tatsächlich so. Im kommenden Frühjahr rollen Castoren von der #Atomfabrik #Sellafield kommend über #Nordenham und #Bremen einmal quer durch #Hamburg ins „#Zwischenlager“ #Brokdorf. Und einmal quer ist dabei ernst gemeint. Die wahrscheinliche Route geht über #Harburg, #Wilhelmsburg, #Rothenburgsort, #Hamm / #Horn, #Wandsbek, #Barmbek, #Alsterdorf, durchs Niendorfer Gehege nach #Eidelstedt.
Die Alternativroute wäre, haha, Hauptbahnhof, #Sternschanze, #Holstenstraße, Eidelstedt.
Nach dem Ende der #AKW ist „überraschenderweise“ der #Atommüll ja immer noch da, und wird in Ermangelung eines #Endlagers jetzt von irgendwo nach nirgendwo verschoben. Was sich anhört wie ein schlechter Scherz ist die Realität des gescheiterten #Atomprogammes, einer gescheiterten #Endlagersuche – einer gescheiterten #Energiepolitik in den letzten 50 Jahren, die vor allem auf #Kohle und #Atom gesetzt hat. Die Rechnung bekommen wir jetzt in Form des „#Klimawandels“ und der atomaren Ewigkeitslasten serviert.

A British nuclear fuels plant has repeatedly released radioactive waste into the Irish Sea [#Sellafield] , a French nuclear reprocessing plant has discharged similar waste into the #EnglishChannel, and for decades the Soviets dumped large quantities of radioactive material into the #ArcticOcean, #KaraSea, and #BarentsSea. That radioactive material included reactors from at least 16 Soviet #nuclear-powered submarines and icebreakers, and large amounts of liquid and solid #NuclearWaste from USSR military bases and weapons plants."

"Concerns over safety at the crumbling building, as well as cracks in a reservoir of toxic sludge known as B30, have caused diplomatic tensions with countries including the US, Norway and Ireland, which fear Sellafield has failed to get a grip of the problems.
"The leak of radioactive liquid from one of the 'highest nuclear hazards in the UK' – a decaying building at the vast Cumbrian site known as the Magnox swarf storage Silo (MSSS) – is likely to continue to 2050. That could have 'potentially significant consequences' if it gathers pace, risking contaminating #groundwater, according to an official document.
"Cracks have also developed in the concrete and asphalt skin covering the huge pond containing decades of nuclear sludge, part of a catalogue of safety problems at the site.
"These concerns have emerged in #NuclearLeaks, a year-long #Guardian investigation into problems spanning cyber #hacking, #radioactivecontamination and toxic #workplace culture at the vast nuclear dump.
"Sellafield, a sprawling 6 sq km (2 sq mile) site on the Cumbrian coast employing 11,000 people, stores and treats nuclear waste from weapons programmes and nuclear power generation, and is the largest such facility in Europe."
