  1. Watch Claude's June 15 CLI restrictions and Google's Gemini login changes. These moves narrow the subscription paths self-hosters relied on, pushing users toward bring-your-own-key setups. The tradeoff: you keep control, but liability shifts from vendor to you. implicator.ai/a-raspberry-pi-i #ai #selfsovereign

  2. Slow traveling through five countries taught me self-sovereignty. Repacking, new rules, new streets, new languages—now back in Melbourne, waiting 25 minutes for a train feels like easy mode.

  3. Article intéressant qui se focalise sur le fait que le self-hosting est le 1er pas de la solution au problème actuelle, mais que le self-sovereign est la destination. Comprendre par là sur qui contrôle l'identité et les données pour assurer la portabilité.

  4. The future is not #selfhosted post by Drew Lyton has reignited the old debate of how to organize #selfsovereign computing in the age of ultradominant #bigtech

The question goes to the root of how digital society can be organized, but has many parallels to how other forms of technical production have evolved.

While the EU reluctantly wakes up to its severe dependence on US digital technology (and at least pretends to have a sovereignty ambition), large parts of the world have no such luxury.

Many less developed countries have become de-facto digital colonies, or digital banana republics if you wish, with the "cash crop" being their population.

  7. Now that I see that it doesn't already exist, I am actively exploring setting up a new #Mastodon instance just focused on how the #Indieweb, #Fediverse #Mastodon #selfsovereign #identity (#SSI) and related #openweb efforts all mix. Or how they should but don't yet. The instance software itself could also be a place to experiment on how to do this better. This would be akin to how other instances are purely focused on Privacytools, or other subsets of tech.
