  1. I keep a paper journal with my gardening fails & successes because I'm AuDHD & need to have written notes to keep remembering important things.

I do better with handwriting notes on paper. I don't do as with with digital notes.

How Do You Stay Productive When You Don’t Feel Motivated?

Motivation feels great when it appears.Work becomes easier.Goals feel exciting.Progress feels natural. The problem is that motivation is unpredictable. Some days it is strong.Other days it disappears completely. Many people assume that successful entrepreneurs, creators, and business owners are always motivated. The reality is very different. Most successful people experience the same lack of motivation as everyone else. The difference is that they have learned how to remain productive even when […]

  3. This is not an AI issue but an organization issue. Opacity blocks cooperation. To fix this you will have to throw more heads at the triage or open it more so community self-management can thrive.

LLM has its own problems to deal with it.

Linus Torvalds says AI-powered bug hunters have made Linux security mailing list ‘almost entirely unmanageable’

  4. How to leverage #AI to make organizations more human, not less.

The dominant narrative is the opposite. #Tech is coming for you. It will control you. It will replace you.

    But there's a different path.

    The #human path.

  5. @ojs Love this framing! 3 out of 4 dimensions is a solid score.

I'm actually building something in Obsidian called KOMPAS that takes a similar approach — instead of beating yourself up over timing, let the system learn YOUR rhythm and work from there. Turns out when you stop fighting the 4th dimension and start listening to it, things get a lot easier.

  6. Your to-do list doesn't fail because you lack discipline. It fails because it doesn't know you.
KOMPAS is an Obsidian system I'm building that learns from how you actually behave — tracking intervals between actions, surfacing tasks when they're due based on your own patterns. No rigid schedules. No guilt. A compass, not a whip.
Still early. Looking to connect with others rethinking self-management beyond "just get it together."

  7. There are ways of life outside of colonization, but politics is not one of them.

All politics is a colonialist instrument, because politics concerns the management of other people's lives. Politics is not self-management. Politics is produced by a group that considers itself enlightened and that, therefore, must be the protagonist in the lives of others.

Democracy is an eminently human thing. Other beings, other living things in the world, do not exercise this movement. They don't have lives like that. Cows, pigs, chickens, birds don't have this management structure. Their management is different.

Only humans have this structure in which one lives to manage the life of another vertically, to defend the rights of others. Among other living things, each one defends itself in a segmented way to defend the territory in an integrated way. A person, however, wants to govern 200 million other people. How could this person do it, if they don't even know two thousand people? How to govern those you don't know?

Within the animal kingdom, politics only exists in the human species. In other species, there is self-management.

  8. What is the pathway to workers having a real say in the workplace?
The alternative production LUCAS PLAN in Britain in the 1970’s proposed greater workers’ control at the Birmingham Aerospace plant. Colin Redmond argues that it has something to say to us today.

    - We only found papers relating to T1DM (and only n=4)

    - Experiences split into (i) general experience of self management, and (ii) barriers/facilitators in their environment

    - All studies were conducted in Western/ #HIC countries

  11. Confusion kills strategic progress way faster than "bad" ideas.

    The antidote? → Clear expectations.

Clear expectations are the most fundamental responsibility of a leader. But they’re not just top-down — they’re something every single person can create for themselves, too.

When expectations are clear, here’s what happens:

  12. "The recent book by Marcelo Vieta, Workers’ Self-Management in Argentina: Contesting Neo-liberalism by Occupying Companies, Creating Cooperatives, and Recuperating Autogestion (Haymarket Books, Chicago, 2020), provides a wealth of information and analysis on the emergence of worker-run production cooperatives in Argentina’s crisis-ridden industries. It highlights workers’ prominent role in occupying and self-managing factories that were either shut down or on the brink of closure following the economic crisis of the 1990s. The book also offers fascinating examples of how these worker-managed units were established. Argentina’s labour movement provides valuable lessons for understanding the complexities of workers’ self-management.

To better understand the economic and political conditions that led to these labour movements, it is crucial to briefly consider the historical context of labour organization in Argentina, as discussed in the book and other related sources, particularly its relationship with the state and capitalists. A special focus will be placed on ‘Peronism,’ which significantly shaped labour politics. After that, we will explore some key aspects of the book and conclude with reflections on the concept of workers’ control and its (in-)conceivability under capitalism."
