  1. @mergesort it hasn't started trying to #SelfDDoS yet has it? Then it'll truly be a copy.

  2. @BabsSheKing Lol. I love that all the stories about Twitter lately have an echo of my voice in the background. I don't care that I'm not mentioned and it's better anyway if I'm not. It's more likely to stick for longer if it feels like the term #selfDDoS came from nobody and nowhere.

  3. @Jamesboswell @SusanLewis @mmasnick

This is the joy and hosting costs associated with the #openweb

Too bad the CTO doesn't understand nor do good coding ( #SelfDDoS'ing ).... Even iF the code is a printout and reviewed at #1InfiniteLoopedWay

Good thing dev I.S. production. 🤡😂

This is why code changes on the weekend are a bad idea. #hardcore

No ENG support. It's the weekend.

Your poor coding is NOT my problem until Monday in the AM. 🤡😂🤣😂🤣

  4. If you are reading this, consider yourself summoned into duty to from this day on to always refer to Twitter using its proper term of address.

When mentioning Twitter, it is considered polite to refer to it as "the self-DDoSing Twitter."

    * Usage Examples *

Former usage: "Good morning to all of my beautiful followers on Twitter. How are you all doing?"

    Correct usage:

"Good morning to everyone who hasn't yet fled this Self DDoSing site. Are you OK?"

"I'm interested in Self DDoSing Twitter's Blue Check Program. Is it really worth $8/month?"

"In October of 2024, after two turbulent years of ownership, billionare Elon Musk sold the Self DDoSing Twitter for 420 pounds of extra large Yukon Gold potatoes at an estimated loss of $44 billion. The buyers reportedly claimed they didn't want the company, but buying Twitter was the only way to get the out-of-stock sink that Musk famously carried into Twitter HQ on his first day of ownership."

  5. All of us who work in IT have made mistakes, we're all human of course. But a self DDOS on the biggest platform on the internet - that truly is one for the connoisseurs. Properly hilarious.

  6. Today in the annals of the Self DDOSing Twitter we follow the story of the three wise monkeys.

Yesterday was Monkey-can't-read-Twitter. Today seems to be Monkey-can't-post-Twitter.

If tomorrow isn't Monkey-can't-hear-audio-in-Spaces-Twitter I'll be sorely disappointed.

So, anyone else able to post to Twitter today? I'm getting an error message saying my request appears automated. If you can still post, feel free to screenshot this and tag @sysop408.

  7. I was just discussing the #TwitterDown #MastodonMigration #DDOS #TwitterFail #SelfDDOS with a twitter refugee, IRL friend and it occurred to me, this is what humans have always done as other humans invade. Some leave to tell the truth to the world (like Einstein's migration to the USA in the 1930s), sometimes in full flight, as refugees. (Like Einstein in the 1930s.) OK, there aren't the threats of firing squads and "account death" isn't actual death, it's a silencing, but violence is traumatic, accumulative and harmful. Likewise microvilences accumulate, slowly, sure, but the harm still gets done.

Elon "Muck" is an aggressor, a tyrant, a fascist. Twitter has become a battleground between hollow opinion and reasoned dissent. It is a war zone. Bombs aren't falling. People aren't dying, but the behaviour of the platform's self-appointed supreme leader is weaponised gaslighting, weaponised abuse, in short a war _of_ torment. Singling out the different ("cis is term of abuse") and using their reasoned, evidenced position against them in abusive propagandist's twisted reversal of the attacked group's position.

Trans? "They're the problem!" ~ Elon Hitler
Evidence based and academic? "What do they know?!" ~ Elon Mussolini.

This fight for Twitter (I believe Twitter is lost, sorry) is the evolution of war. The "corporate aristocracy" have gone to war on the heart of democracy, public discussion, in much the way Trump went to war on legal procedure and common decency (as in manners, not morality, the latter itself, hijacked.)

I left Facebook because I was no longer willing to allow my reactions to feed Meta's product motive. I fled the evolution of slavery, a pseudo-consensual slavery of our psychology rather than bodies. I am a dissenter in exile. Writing what I can.

Those of you from twitter, really are refugees. Not fleeing a physical threat, not in fear of life, still with your rooves over your heads sure, but in fear of your voice being unilaterally silenced without trial or evidence, more easily than by spilling your blood.

This is what #cyberwar looks like.

  9. Random thought: Darth Putin ends most of his tweets/posts with "I remain a master strategist." Maybe there should be a "Darth Musk(rat)" somewhere here in the Fediverse who ends his posts, "I remain a genius innovator"?

  10. It looks like Musk is going on with that cage fight without Zuckerberg. #selfDDOS

  11. Oh hell yes! DDOS is trending on Twitter and look what the top post is! Even better, people are picking up on the term "self-DDOS".

Twitter is going great, y'all! I will absolutely laugh myself to sleep tonight if the words self-DDOS becomes synonymous with the carnival of self pwnage that is Elon Musk's Twitter.

  12. So I had a really fun day writing up about Twitter trying to DDOS itself. I didn't expect it to blow up the way it did here, but even more amusing is that someone took a screenshot of that post and cross-posted it to Twitter and now that post is blowing up on Twitter too!

Poor Twitter. Can't catch a break. It's down and even the holdouts want their turn to give it a good kick.

Update: I have to add a screenshot of that screenshot because someone just reminded me that most people can't view the tweet unless they have a Twitter account to login to. It's ironic of me to forget because that's how today's circus got started.

It also shows how a seemingly innocent change like this can snowball into an avalanche of unintended consequences.

Anyway, 4500 retweets later and the party continues.

  14. Shoutout to everyone who has done in their programming career. Done it myself and looking at the server logs was fun.
