Just came home from the Festival of Dangerous Ideas where @pluralistic kindly signed my copy of his book and gave me a swearing poomoji sticker that will find a home on my laptop #SeizeTheMeans

You really can do almost anything with that much money. Like, literally anything. The human species is cooperative in nature. With all those human extracted resources already available, somehow, for reasons I'll never personally understand, we instead willingly - gleefully - give this all over to a handful of (occasionally) drug addled (mostly) rapists and (all) psychopaths to just *have at it*.
Taking ever more and giving ever less. It's been #HungryHungryHippos time for 6 fucking years! The #oligarchs started smashing the stick hanging out of the hippos ass the second they realised what they could get away with via the #covid pandemic.
They were right. Before the pandemic, there were no trillion dollar companies. IIRC there were 3 centibillionaires.
Today there are TWENTY.
ELEVEN of them are american men in tech. 10 of them are white.
Why are we allowing this to happen? We are 8,000,000,000 people against ~3000 billionaires and a few hundred thousand ultra-loyalists - most of whom are under duress and may or may not know it yet. The'll turncoat just as fast as their #bitcoin crashes.
I really hope we all get together soon - even if it takes another us democratic let down like we're experiencing in so-called canada.
Y'all... We can do this. I'm all in.

A powerful artifact was created during @pluralistic visit to Tartu on May 10th after the #seizethemeans of computation discussion at the Institute of Computer Science. Pretty obvious what it does, because it has Cory's incantations recorded on it, but what does it take to operate it? https://w.wiki/A3jT #tartu2024 #estonia

I hope you haven't failed to notice that coming week @pluralistic is giving two public talks in #Tartu, the first one on overcoming the #enshittocene and the second one guiding us to #seizethemeans of computation. And you can ask questions! https://infoaed.ee/cory/ #primavista #tartu2024

Union representation in collective bargaining is simply meaningless if the other side still has full control of production and the law on their side, and will stoop to no level to attempt to retain their power to exploit and gouge workers' labor.

Thinking about putting out my idea of a platform of immediate, short term, and long term actions that could be accomplished by an Indy Left movement upon seizing power.
Anyone game for it?

Luke Simon is Senior Software Engineering Manager at #Twitter. This photo of a Slack message allegedly sent by him is currently making the rounds, and it's the biggest of red flags for anyone who has been asked to return after being laid off.
If you're being recalled from layoff at Twitter, it sounds like it's going to be a super short stay of execution. They seem to think you're both useless, and also the holder of all of the knowledge. If you're forced back, the documentation in your head is likely all they care about.
I'm not here to give advice, but if it were me, I don't think I'd know anything about these systems anymore. The systems would surely have changed a lot since I last worked on them, and without active reinforcement this past week or two, and with my time as the company so unceremoniously brought to a close, I would probably have just let that information go.
Oops!
Labour is entitled to all that it creates. You guys created that knowledge. Shouldn't you also get to control who can use it?

And if you're still at Twitter, this is a stark reminder of what how they'll talk about you some day. You're not person doing their best, trying to make a life for yourself. You're just someone who is with them, or against them. And they can decide at *any* time that you're against them. You're useful until you're not, and once they decide that you're not, they'll trash talk you openly as if you've never contributed *anything*. If there's one word of advice I *can* offer, it's this one: "Unionize".
