Today, I learned an Ancient Greek song on my lyre (inspired by my online friend Tosca). ^_^
I used Egert Pöhlmann's 1970 book, but had to transpose the melody from e to d because of this lyre's tuning. 😅 Hope you like it!

"L’épitaphe de #Seikilos est l'une des plus anciennes et des plus précieuses traces de musique grecque. L’histoire de sa découverte et celle qu’elle renferme ont participé à la renommée de cette épitaphe qui trône actuellement au Musée National du Danemark, à Copenhague. [...] Afin de retranscrire les notes présentes sur la stèle de Seikilos, dans notre système de notation musical actuel, les chercheurs ont fait appel aux "Tables d’Alypius", un précieux traité qui consigne, dans différentes tables, le nom de chacune des notes de musique et y a associé le signe correspondant dans la notation de la #musique vocale et le signe correspondant dans la notation de la musique instrumentale. Une véritable "Pierre de Rosette" de la musique de la Grèce antique.
C’est grâce à ces fameuses #TablesdAlypius que les archéo-musicologues ont réussi à redonner vie à cette musique du IIe siècle avant notre ère, que l’on peut entendre ci-dessous."
