Captured amongst a sea of stars the spiral galaxy (also known as Messier 101) is located about 21 million light-years away. The Pinwheel Galaxy is known for its striking arms spiraling outwards from the core.M101 is filled with bright nebulae and young blue stars located here above the Big Dipper's handle in Ursa Major.
