Seeking advice ...
A friend has been using Discord for personal communication with someone, but has now shifted to using Signal. They would like to export all of their Discord conversations, and is asking for advice.
A quick web search produced this result:
https://solipsys.co.uk/documents/ExportingFromDiscord.html
Comments on that advice would be welcome, as would different, concrete advice, especially if a non-tech person could use it.
TIA

Hi all,
If I post something hugely interesting and my message is shared by a large account, I will rapidly have mysql eating nearly 800% of CPU resources (yeah, I know, shouldn’t be above a hundred, but that's whattopsays).
I was wondering if configuring redis could help prevent that kind of situation? Any thoughts?

I'm traveling to Singapore for a couple weeks in the near future. Does anyone have some recommendations on where to go, what to do (or not do)?

CW: Seeking motivation (mh neg)
Lately we've been struggling to get out of bed and spending lots of time just laying around and then feeling bad for it. However, we've also been struggling to find reasons to get up beyond basic bodily functions.
We need to break this cycle somehow. What would you suggest for us (as kobolds or as a human IRL) do to get us moving in the morning? What's something worth leaving the bed, getting dressed, and actually moving?

Installed #Librewolf on Mac.
In order to run KeepassXC with it, install the addon in Librewolf first.
Then create the folder/user/Library/Application Support/librewolf/NativeMessagingHosts/if it isn't already there.
Copy that path into the Keepass standalone app in settings->Browser Integration->Advanced->Config location. Give a name to that config, f.i. "librewolf", and save.
Reload database in Librewolf and you're done.
Librewolf's help for Mac users seems non-existing, so i hope that'll help somebody.

Why do i do this?
#Firefox seems to introduce privacy violations by the app itself now, according to their new TOS:

Looking to join a Lemmy instance, but since I'm blind, having to deal with exclusionary captcha solutions or requests to send an email to verify I'm a human aren't something I'm interested in.Does anyone know of an instance that tries to be inclusive in their signup process? I also don't wish to be on a blindness-specific instance, as personal experience shows me that way lies a overly conservative hell I'd like nothing to do with. Also prefer an instance outside of the US for obvious reasons. Asking the fediverse at large for suggestions, as ReddIt just doesn't appeal to me considering the research I've recently done on it... #AskFedi #Lemmy #Discussions #SeekingAdvice

People joke about installing Python environments (https://xkcd.com/1987/), but I'm looking at #Typescript and... am I misunderstanding, but `sudo apt install npm` (on #Ubuntu2204) gives me a #node version (12.22) that isn't compatible with installing the typescript package (EBADENGINE required: node >=14.17). So I should install latest node using #nvm, which installs via curl of a script which git clones its own repo to my ~/.npm, does this sounds right so far? #newb #seekingAdvice

Oops, seems that when I editied the post to add an additional tag, the poll itself got deleted... Fixing that: Which type of GPG key would you recommend to someone starting out with GPG for the first time? #GPG #KeyGeneration #Privacy #MailEncryption #FileEncryption #SeekingAdvice #SetupQuestions #Poll #AskFedi

Another quick & dirty poll, this time on generating a GPG key: Which type of GPG key would you recommend to someone starting out with GPG for the first time? Voting & additional feedback are optional, but I would like to know as I'm wanting to set up a GPG key for my email + to encrypt files before they get uploaded to the cloud. #GPG #KeyGeneration #Privacy #MailEncryption #FileEncryption #SeekingAdvice #SetupQuestions #Poll #AskFedi

Does anyone here have experience with or knowledge about starting a global/international movement/campaign?
How do you start?
What's the process (first steps, foundation, growth)?
Should you start locally (to gain experience) or globally (to not impose structure of first local group on global movement)?
What do you have to consider?
Especially: What do you have to consider right away, as it's hard to fix later?
Any legal considerations?
Any other tips & tricks?:boost: appreciated. This is important to me.

I want to add OpenGraph metadata with images to my blog so that when you link it, on social sites, you get a nice little preview panel. HOWEVER, I fear the “Mastodon effect” will either bring down my site or run up my bill. Are there specific things I can do with my site setup to minimize the “Mastodon effect”? I use Eleventy to generate a static site which is hosted on Netlify. I have a hunch Netlify can handle whatever I throw at it, but I fear getting a big surprise bill.

#SeekingAdvice:
An online friend of mine is visiting my city soon. We’re planning to meet up (maybe for a meal?)
They are #blind, and I am sighted with limited experience around blind folks in-person.
Do you have any advice on how I can make my friend comfortable or avoid being a goob? -
If you are a #Hubzilla dev and/or add-on dev:
I am seeking your advice on (re-)programming/developping an existing add-on.
A respective thread is here : https://hubzilla.org/channel/contribute?mid=b64.aHR0cHM6Ly9odWJ6aWxsYS5vcmcvaXRlbS9mY2M2Mjc1Ni1jMjEyLTQyNDUtOGJmMi0yZDE2MmViNDYyYTk
however I'd be glad to chat a few things through elsewhere. I'd just need a few pointers.
Thank you much already!

Is there anyone out here who has professional experience (either on the giving or the receiving end) about #grieving and dealing with #loss?
I hope someone could see this and share some experiences about how I'm supposed to grief. How I can enter into active grieving and guide myself through the process. Or maybe lead me to resources that write about it in depth.
Boosts are appreciated but not neceesary. Thank you.
