  1. My husband took this picture of the “Chapel of the Holy Cross”. Built right into the red rock cliffs in Sedona, AZ.

In Hebrew we would call it:

    Kapela קַפֶּלָּה /ka-’pe-lah/

Here is what I love about this one. It is not an ancient Hebrew word at all. Modern Hebrew borrowed it from Latin, and it arrived through European languages, which is why it sounds so familiar to an English ear the moment you hear it. Hebrew has been quietly collecting words like this for a very long time.

But if you want the older, fully Hebrew way to say it, there is one:

    House of prayer בֵּית תְּפִלָּה /’be-(y)-t t-fee-’lah/

Two words for one small building. One that traveled across a continent to get here, and one that was already home. Both are correct. That is usually how it goes with living languages. 💙

Looking at it reminds me of Israel. The rock, faith, and beauty. I also love sharing in and respecting my Christian husband’s beliefs 💙🙏🏻

  2. I needed a photo of my #Jeep for an upcoming blog post about buying my new car. This is the one I found. Red Rock crawling in #Sedona back in 2006. Yes, I’ve owned this 1999 Wrangler since it was brand new.
