I noticed that my iPhone was making an occasional non-HTTPS request. Downcast, a podcasting app, was calling home to a JSON file that just contains some references to religious sites and German TV shows. Strange.

Today’s goal is to get #securityonion and #openvas working…
It has taken several reinstallations but it looks like this time SecurityOnion will finally take. I plan on placing a monitoring node on each VLAN as well as using the span switch I have between the modem and my router. This will take a bit of time to get fully set up but am piece-mealing it.

Augusta GA has been hit hard by Hurricane Helene and power is out in most areas around the city. Unfortunately, we will have to cancel this week's Security Onion class that starts on Monday 9/30.
No decisions have been made yet regarding the Security Onion Conference on Friday 10/4, BSidesAugusta on Saturday 10/5, or other training classes this week. We hope to provide more updates soon."

Does anyone have up to date info on how to use #SecurityOnion with #OSQuery ? The only mention in Seconion 2.4 docs is an unhelpful "The link takes you to Kibana".
Earlier documentation had detailed steps for generating client installers, how to enable the service through
so-allow... Now all of that is gone. -
Naively speaking, I'd probably attempt to build this using #securityonion #jetporch and #tinkerbell today, but if there is an off-the-shelf easy-button approach I'm all for it.
