Trying to fit in with you Straights for a quiet life, did not make me a happy boy as it turned out.
It wasn't until the 21st century when Tony Blair finally got round to undoing this travesty, so fuck him for his slackness, but most of all fuck Thatcher for fucking over my Youth.

It’s LGBTQIA+ STEM Day!
Just a quick post to point out that today is LGBTQIA+ STEM Day, which aims to celebrate to celebrate the work of LGBTQIA+ people in science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM), but also to highlight the barriers still facing us.

This also provides an opportunity for me to send my best wishes to all LGBTQIA+ staff and students at Maynooth and around the world!
P.S. I’m reminded that it was 22 years ago today that Section 28 was finally repealed in England and Wales. With reactionary fforces around the world attacking our hard-won rights, it is important that we cling on to what we’ve got.

I had a lovely morning participating in the Being Human Festival 'History, Memory, Resistance: Section 28 in Wales' event in Cardiff. I lived through this period and was quite nervous going in, honestly, but it was a really warm and healing space.

Britain is not safe for my kind.....
I'm Queer and the Government wants to erase us, they're telling kids we're dangerous and predatory, while letting their rich perverts get away with it. They'll turn the public against us, they have the money and the time and we have nothing.
Today I've written a letter to some MPs imploring them not to bring Section 28 back, I expect it not to work, I don't expect to be heard, I am nothing.

The paragraph ends, but the way, with " Schools should be mindful to avoid any suggestions that social transition is a simple solution to distress or discomfort."
This is the same bullshit as "publish or promote homosexuality as a pretended family relationship". But it is more... It is a further indication? admission? that they are coming for social transition completely not just the medical transition they've already sought to kill.

I don't think, from context, that this is referring to the nuance of Agender and whether it is a gender identity or not...

The #UK government have issued new guidance to schools. In wording rather reminiscent of 1988's Section 28, it says schools should avoid materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender."

This wording was set until 2010, when the Equality Act finally prohibited discriminatory laws like Section 28.
