  4. Nineteen Years in Second Life and Still Pretending I Know What I’m Doing

This morning, I received one of the few emails that doesn't immediately make me wonder what subscription I've accidentally renewed. 7. A Visit to Somewhere, Alphatribe Island

…Where My Sense of Reality Quietly Packed a Suitcase  There are places in Second Life that make perfect sense. A beach is a beach. A forest is a forest. A shopping region is where your Linden Dollars mysteriously disappear while you insist you were "just looking." It also seems I'm developing a habit. Only a few days ago I visited Visiting a Friend, another gloriously colourful, wonderfully bizarre art installation (proof that my teleport history would probably concern a […]

  11. Second Life Dilemmas #2: Social Situations, The Unwritten Rules

Or: The Unwritten Rulebook Nobody Ever Gave You There are Second Life residents who log in, teleport wherever they feel like, happily start conversations with complete strangers, join voice chat without hesitation and somehow end the evening with six new friends, three group invitations and plans for a beach party next weekend. Then there's the rest of us. The people who spend five minutes wondering whether saying "Hi!" might be considered intrusive. Welcome back to The Great Second Life […]

  14. Grauland – Spires of Sector 7: A Planet Where Neighbours Mind Their Own Business

There comes a point in every Second Life resident's existence where you look at your inventory, sigh dramatically, and think: You know what? Earth has become a bit much. Too many shopping events. Too many people arguing in group chat. Too many beach clubs with DJs yelling "MAKE SOME NOISE!" into the void while everyone silently stands on dance balls. Clearly, the only logical solution is to leave the planet altogether. Luckily, Grauland – Spires of Sector 7, by  Jim Garand,  […]

  22. I’m so excited the blog is almost ready for the big update! Just have to make one more #SecondLife avatar and update that listing (I’ve already done 60), finish up the launch announcement post, and double check everything before it goes live! As long as there’s no RL emergencies (which unfortunately there may be), it’ll be up by the weekend! Ahhh I’m so excited!!!
