A day off work sees me in Truro so naturally I go back to the tiny second hand bookshop where I was politely chastised for not reconstructing the book stacks exactly as I found them.
Anyway they had this. Perfect. #ModelRailway #GWR #SecondHandBookshop

This is Pegasus Books in Wellington. I took these pictures because I wanted to remember how it feels. The first thing I notice is how incredibly quiet it is. It's a big quiet; it envelopes you. It's not just a lack of music; I am unaware of even the other customers. I realise later, it must be the books. Every wall and a lot of the floor is lined with books.
It is a reassuring feeling. This labyrinth of books, books to the ceiling with ladders, books overflowing and stacked on the floor. Knicknacks stuck in everywhere, too, often in theme with the books, just as often random. Old saggy ottomans and chairs wedged into corners. Hand written signs everywhere. It's not the only second hand book store left in Wellington, but it's the only one that feels like this.

You know those secondhand bookstores that seem to contain so many more shelves of wonders than you would have ever thought possible? These lil guys have been exploring for hours, but don’t worry - they’re intrepid adventurers, and they’ll find their way when they’re ready. This took me a month to paint because of just how packed with books is, and because I like it quite a bit, I made it a print!

A #secondhandbookshop find today.
I'm curious to know more about #PattieBoyd as she's had such an interesting life and I imagine she's got plenty to tell in this book ☺️

🚨 ATTN #Bibliophiles !
Article on #DoullsBooks #SecondHandBookshop (formerly of #Halifax, now in #Dartmouth) - it has been around for FORTY YEARS. I love that it is an institution so many grew up with. 🥰
They ship all over the world, but only their more unusual #books are on their website - if you don't see it, it doesn't mean they don't have it! Contact them or visit in person!
AND! About visiting - the staff wear #masks! 🎉
