So as I mentioned in an earlier post, that I was going to put my old #EVGA #NVIDIA #GTX1050 card into my #Moms PC.
Well I it along with a 10 #Gigabit #Ethernet card that I had laying around.
After a week my mom started to have PSU issues.
Moms 1000w PSU was dying.
It was from my old build, I got 3 years out of it & mom got 5 years, so it's old.
I saw a deal on a new #Seasonic Focus GX-1000 ATX3.1 & I got it.
The Red LED makes the White pop a little.
Yes mom rocks #kubuntu #Linux.

I don't know much about power supplies, but I think it should be concerning that #Seasonic doesn't have a thermal shutdown to keep the PSU from getting that hot

1 box of silence and peace of mind, please.

My last PSU's fan had a bearing defect and occasionally made unbearable squeaky noise🙉 Then it went silent for months🤷‍♂️ The last time it made noise I finally placed this order. #LinusTechTips might have influenced my choice for #Seasonic to be honest.

My first ever modular PSU. What a pleasure to install! 🤗

Last week my machine got a new #Seasonic in the power supply slot that makes no noise.
It is now able to sneak up on you and you might not even notice it (just need to get rid of a few hard disks and fans to make it completely unnoticeable).
However, this powerful stat increase came at a cost of the chaos value. The system SSD is now not held in place by tape anymore but by zipties cause the power supply shipped with them as well as with some hook and loop fasteners.

Got this new big girl, RX 7900 GRE, a new Seasonic PSU to sustain the her hotness, and my first NVMe SSD.

Is the #atx12vo standard dead? It looks like no #ATX #PSUs or #mainboards come as real products for individual PC builders.

Since initial announcements of 12VO years I ago I’m waiting eagerly for PSUs and #mainboard|s. I don’t use dedicated PCIe GPUs and only have a few SSDs to power. I need a new #PSU soon but much less than 500W and all there is are beefy nearly 1000W PSUs.
