This is one of my favorite mugs. To me, a sea serpent happily playing around a ferry is just SO very #Washington. I mention it b/c the artist, Erika Rae Heins of Whidbey Island, has a #Kickstarter up for HOODIES with this picture. I've been begging for this design on a hoodie for years. #scylla (the six-headed, sea dragon lady) and #charybdis (a lethal, carnivorous whirlpool) are two of the most prominent #monsters in Hellenic #mythology.
According to the description given in #Homer ‘s #Odyssey Book XII, the legendary sea #creatures are rumoured to inhabit the strait of Messina (between #sicily and #calabria ), lurking in the #mediterranean sea and sinking their victims’ boats before feasting on them.
