#Newswire: The FAO has assumed joint custodianship with UNICEF of a new Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator regarding Minimum Dietary Diversity (MDD). This indicator captures a crucial aspect previously lacking in tracking progress toward ending malnutrition and achieving #SDG2 (Zero Hunger) and the broader 2030 Agenda. The new indicator was formally adopted by the United Nations Statistics Division at its 56th session in New York.

Animal welfare *should* be an integral part of transition to sustainable food systems, but often is not, especially in international policy
In the recent Roadmap to Zero Hunger, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization didn't take the opportunity to stress transition to plant based, or address One Health issues, and animal welfare was completely absent.

Was #Suffizienz ist, fragen sich ja viele & ob man damit zurück in die #Steinzeit muss. Ich frage mich, was wohl so schlecht an der Steinzeit gewesen sein soll, aber ich will ja auch eines Tages Ur- und Frühgeschichte studieren.
Anyway, #Suffizienz ist, nur so viel zu nutzen, wie man wirklich braucht. Sachen zu teilen, zu tauschen, zu reparieren, zu recyclen & upzucyclen. Und damit auch Luft zu schaffen für jene, die im weltweiten Vergleich fast gar keine #Ressourcen nutzen und auch in Würde leben wollen.Ein aktuelles Positionspapier kirchlicher Organisationen dazu ist hier :masto_dance:

Interesting to hear last year from @cameronneylon, that citations of papers from #Wageningen UR had notably high Shannon Information in the citers' country of affiliation. This looked like strong #agriculture #research attracting re-use in diverse countries, including the Global South. #SDG2

I'm not sure if Beasley means to signal supply shortages, or if he's just using casual phrasing. Or he could be speaking specifically to WFP's situation: Black Sea supplies have been inaccessible for much of the year, but Ukraine harvests will be down in 2023, so also unavailable.
Anyway. Words have meanings and meanings point towards actions. It would be good to be as clear as possible about words, meanings, and actions because there are millions of people who don't have enough food. 2/ #SDG2
