  1. The wireless keyboard works nice with the #C64 mini, so I should play #DallasQuest again😉

I have a #Blue64 in my #C64C, so I could play it there sitting on the Sofa but the loading time from the #SD2IEC takes so much longer than loading the Savestate on the #C64mini🤔

BTW, you can't shoot Sue Ellen😂

  3. @m2c_n3e
    It should work.
I have a new Power Supply, as the 80s brick will burn your house some day😅
    I have a #Kungfuflash 2, an #SD2IEC, and a #Unijoysticle2 connected, it all works fine🤗
Sometimes even on the Userport a 4 player adapter with a 2nd Unijoysticle, no smell at all 😉

  5. Last evening I downloaded the #GUI64 v1.97 to the #C64 Core on the #Mega65. Connected the #SD2IEC device and the #mouSTer.

It just worked - including the scroll wheel on the mouse!

(Used OBS Studio and the Capture Card to connect the Mega65 to get the CRT look with a background image just for fun.)

I'm now very intrigued to buy #C64OS so I also can combine this setup with the #TeensyROM for networking. Using as much peripherals as I can.

  7. This is impressive.
What you see in photo is a #sd2iec identical to the one I assembled for my C64 and C128.

    And it's listing files.
    From the #KIM1.

And probably an 1541 would work just as well.

  9. So, now I backed up the #JiffyDOS images from the chip I bought for my C16, and can now use it in VICE as well.

It took 25 seconds to save the default ROM to my #SD2IEC, only 8 for the JD ROM.

  13. Printed a case for my C64 SD2IEC+Epyx fastload

Case is kinda janky but I cleaned it up some and used a little super glue to get it fixed at edges. Works great! Really glad I have nice label sticker printer to make my own button labels!

I did have to remove and resolder the SD card board as it was on crooked and too low. Needed hakko + heat gun to get it free. Once back in fit in case properly.

  14. My #sd2iec arrived today, I set it up and tested it straight away. My early version of the #c64c actually still has the original #sidchip in it and it actually still works just like my Joyboard controller. Unfortunately you have to twist it downwards but that's ok. Unfortunately my seriell cable still needs a bit of work but then it's actually done.

  15. @vkc This may not answer your specific question, but Greg Naçu from #C64OS has published a combined #SD2IEC manual online: c64os.com/post/sd2iecdocumenta #c64

  16. Pues ya me he creado unas cuantas imágenes de diskette vacías para el #SD2IEC que funcionan, así que esta noche me pongo a descubrir el :commodore: 64 en profundidad.

  18. Now I have finalized the TCBM2SD firmware. I managed to squeeze in read-only support for disk images (D64/D71/D81).

This pretty much completes what I wanted to achieve. The next step could be a cycle-exact 1551 emulator (Pi1551 base on Pi1541, but that's a completely different project).

The author of Directory Browser kindly shared the source code with me, so there is now a version that supports the native fastload protocol (23x, ~9KB/s) for files and directory listings. The browser can be easily loaded using the SHIFT+RUN/STOP combination.

Everything about the project is open-source and published at github.com/ytmytm/plus4-tcbm2s

But if you own a Commodore C16/C116/Plus4 and you'd like to buy a ready-made TCBM2SD from me, please send me a message. Let me know how many you'd like and include your country of residence. I'll be ordering PCBs soon, so I’d like to estimate how many will be needed. Once I have that information, I’ll get back to you with a price offer.

  20. I made tcbm2sd!

It's like Tapecart or SD2IEC but instead of IEC bus it uses native TCBM connection to C16/116/Plus4, simulating 1551 drive.

    github.com/ytmytm/plus4-tcbm2s

Normal people would try to find a sd2iec and JiffyDOS for Plus4. I had no patience for that, so I spent last month developing this project.

It's my first project with CPLD and it worked on the first try.

The first revision uses Arduino Mini Pro with ATmega with 32K flash. It's not enough for full sd2iec port to service disk images, but works very well for file-based programs.

It's fast! The embedded file browser (available always when you load '*' file) has a special fastloader feature, over 23 times faster than stock 1541, on par with DolphinDOS.

  22. Installed the #C64 Core on the #Mega65 so I can "retire" the real C64C for a while.

Cartridges and hardware IEC devices works on this enhanced Mister core. So it's perfect replacement with this much superior keyboard.

I will still try to use GO64 mode on the "#C65 ROM" on the Mega Core. But with #JiffyDOS on the C64 core together with my #SD2IEC the "C64" feels so very fast.

Never used Jiffy before and it took me by surprise how well it works.

  24. @dawnraad There are dozens of solutions. If you really want to still use physical #floppy disks, a 1541 can be hooked up to a PC, nowadays typically using some USB adapter (there are several available), but if you have an old PC that still has a parallel port, a quite simple cable with just a few resistors and diodes would do as well (there are manuals to build one). For software, I'd recommend #OpenCBM with that.

Most people nowadays prefer to emulate the floppy instead. The "cheap" solution is called #SD2IEC ... working somewhat well, but failing with software trying to directly program the 1541 (like custom fastloaders as used in many games and demos). A very comfortable solution would be the 1541-Ultimate-II+, which offers perfect 1541 emulation plus several other goodies like ethernet (push your software with FTP, launch it remotely using telnet) 😎

  26. How do one spend #Christmas Holidays? With the #Commodore64 of course!

Playing those tunes for everyone to enjoy. Also a good time to explain to the younger generation of kids how few characters you can store in the memory of the computer.
