No, nobody saw you stash your peanut there. Nope.

The resident scrub jays have figured out that if they stash the peanuts in the gutter above where I put them, the squirrels see it. So now they'll stash them up there temporarily and ferry them to undisclosed locations out of the line of sight, a block or so away. Clever.

I ran across a photo of how scraggly the jays looked in the spring, now they're slick peanut dive bombers. Can't believe I'm showing baby pictures of the birds lol

Every year, #Nature changes the composition of the annuals that spring up after the first #rains. Surprise this year, I have several clumps of these #sunflowers come up. They are not the wild variety. I think the #scrubjays took the bird seed and planted it. I know they do that with acorns.

CW: Corvids
Two of our local crows. We befriended the whole murder a few years ago.
They come by and basically call us from the street. Juveniles pop up as well and make cute sounds. Couples preen each other on the wires or on the trees in front of our apartment ...
#Corvids are the best. We love all #birds, but we have special relationships with #crows and #scrubjays.
