  1. Strange things happen in #gamedev, like reverse causality: in level 6 of #OpenCrystalCaves, the presence of the reverse gravity sign causes the level’s gravity to be reversed!

And with this level 6 is complete. It’s memorable but otherwise quite simple, only with some speleothems (that’s a term that covers stalactites and stalagmites - did you know this? My spell check certainly didn’t - the things you learn when making a game!

  2. For our dungeon novel @ratking added a new feature: You can coincidentally drop in on a very personal dialogue. Like one about desecration of the dead and necromancy💀 Feels almost like writing for a theater play.

  3. Getting ready to open up the game to a small number of beta testers. Enjoy this teaser! #gamedev #indiegame #screenshotsatuday

  4. #screenshotsatuday #godot4 #gamedev #indiedev Spent today doing texture and weight painting. This is Alice Lovelace my protagonist. Spending tomorrow making a few more speed mechanics, which I admittedly should have done sooner because it informs world design. I'm still aiming for some kind of demo this month, motivation has been spotty.

  5. Late for #screenshotsatuday but that's because my brain was melting trying to do rendering.
Want a setup such that only interactable objects (not everything) has a border. But every material shader I tried had problems with my lowpoly geometry, so we have this. A viewport and a mess. The skybox doesn't load, since it's a second pass the outlines render over everything, and it's a frame behind.
    I desperately need help. @godotengine #gamedev #godot4

  6. Animation and rendering work this week. I got Typst working as a compositor for cards, which opens up a lot of fun things in the future.

  7. Since the 0.15 RC dropped a few weeks ago I've been porting the client for the multiplayer card game I've been working on this year to Bevy, and in the last couple of days I've finally got enough functionality in it to actually play cards & see those cards resolve.

  8. Okay thanks to some folks at a local meetup I've made some fixes to my flight controller. Only realized that my x input was inverted until someone pointed it out. X axis also levels out so it steers more like a car with a y axis. And now there is an autorotate when upside down.

  9. My wrist is hurting but the show must go on, did this using a left handed mouse. Thanks themeGen for being a thing, menus are starting to look a bit less template. Also am including the option to use OpenDyslexia #accessibility

  10. We have points of interest and it saves to file. Still working out the kinks of the level topology and the finer details of steering but getting there.

The goal is to have an itch demo at the end of the month to drum hype for a future steam release.

  11. Flight controller is basically done now, I'm done fighting with the camera math. Thanks @kenney for the characterr rig I'm stealing the bones from. Also I very much like the color LUT I did up. Spending tomorrow making nice character models then doing level topology.

Also #accessibility the game will (if I do it right) be completely one hand accessible, either with mouse, joystick, or keyboard. The video was done with mouse controls.

  12. My husband does like really smart person programming all day and I meanwhile spent a significant chunk of time trying to remember if this was a 1989 or 1987 Dodge. Anyway Vaporwave Battler is going well. #gaming #videogames #indiegames #screenshotsatuday #pixelart #vaporwave

  13. I just started a page for my indie #TTRPG Arrhenius on itch.io here: jesseharlin.itch.io/arrhenius

Starting to post dev logs, artwork I’ve commissioned for the game, and getting community forum posts going. Feel free to follow and add the game to your collection! (New art below by British artist Alex Wright) #AgeOfArrhenius #screenshotsatuday #selfpromotionsaturday

  14. I made this bubble effect for healing! I couldn’t get a screenshot of it running so I instanced it myself to show it off but I promise it totally works on its own #indiedev #gamedev #videogames #gaming #pixelart #screenshotsatuday

  15. I put this tile set in Godot to test the autotile because I was sure it was busted and not going to work properly BUT ACTUALLY IT SLAPS?! #indiedev #screenshotsatuday #videogames #gaming #gamedev #pixelart

  16. I'm rolling up with another one -- I'm working on this game too, and this particular enemy is a treasure #screenshotsatuday #indiedev #gamedev #pixelartist #games #videogames

  17. For #screenshotsatuday I just want to share this hourglass I made for the Wait icon. I've never felt any good at pixel art but I love making art for Chronicles 😁 #gamedev #pixelart

  18. Been using a custom "profiler" script in my Godot 4 project for a few months now to better visualize my projects performance. You simply mark zones of code to profile and on program exit it exports a JSON file that can be visualized in various profiling viewers supporting Google's Trace Event format (such as profiler.firefox.com/ and ui.perfetto.dev/).

  19. Just a small taste of one of Dungeon Gals's more mind-bending mechanics! These puzzles will definitely force you to use your head. #screenshotsatuday #dungeongals #indiedev
