Scream VI was as much of a mixed bag as I expected.
The "we recognize we are in a horror movie" trope has been tired since Scream 2, and there hasnt been a single compelling baddie since the original, but on the positive side: great performances, pretty effective gore, competent directing, and some great setpieces and chases.
That said, lackluster writing left and right. Doesn't anyone in these movies own an alarm system? Is Ghost Face truly a ghost, bc it sure seems like he can just pass through walls into houses/apartments at will. And why the hell would anyone in these films NOT be armed to the teeth at all times at this point?

Now watching Scream VI in 4k from my disc. I saw it in the cinema when it came out and watching Jenna Ortega in this film was such an experience, she's so good. But when has she ever not been at the top of her game? Never. What also stood out to me about this film is that it's a horror with properly fleshed out characters, with everybody doing a good job.
