A secondary "benefit" (for these ghouls) is to hasten the demise of the Social Security Trust Fund. The primary reason that these people have Social Security numbers is so that they can work. When they work, they pay Social Security taxes. These payments help bolster the Social Security system to the tune of $26 billion each year, even though these individuals cannot claim benefits unless their immigration status changes.

Hastening the demise of the Social Security Trust Fund bolsters the argument that the program should be turned over to the private sector. Heaven forbid we instead #ScraptheCap, (https://www.ncpssm.org/entitledtoknow/millionaires-are-done-paying-into-social-security-for-2025/) making everyone pay their fair share.

"Millionaires stop paying into Social Security for the year this week [1st week of March]— and billionaires already stopped contributing wages to the program in January.  The rest of us continue paying into the system for the entire year."

@cdarwin There's another important aspect to this. Sanders is 100% right about the spending cap, but the wealthiest among us generally do not make their wealth from wages. Only wages are taxed for the purpose of Social Security.
We also need to look at increasing capital gains taxes, currently at the lowest rates in modern times.

@AkaSci 100% this! The cap on contributions is stupid and artificailly limits what we can do with SSA. It will cost me more in tax dollars if we #ScrapTheCap and I’m still absolutely in favor. People deserve the simple dignity of being able to retire, and Social Security helps lots of folks do that.
