It hurts me to say this, but: Susssan Ley is right. She's recognised that if the Liberal Party is to survive, to present itself as a credible Opposition, and have more than just a dream of winning an election in the next decade, it needs to be overhauled.

Susssan Ley has a mountain of work ahead of her if she's trying to reform and modernise the Liberal Party. This comes after years that cannot be swept under the carpet, and memories that stretch back so far in people's minds that we have a clear picture of what is "normal" for the Liberal Party. Some people like Tony Abbott want that "tradition" that he was part of and benefited from to persist, and for the rest of us to forget the aspects that were terrible for most people in Australia.

But, who can forget the lies and racism and RWNJ extremism resembling Nazism of the Malignant Potato Peter Dutton, the lies and racism and self-serving religious quackery of the Liar from the Shire Scott Morrison, the lies and racism and outrageous sexism and anti-intellectualism and cruelty disguised as boofheadedness of The Mad Monk Tony Abbott, the lies and racism and nonsensical neo-con ideology of Malcolm Turnbull, and the lies and racism and mean-spirited divide-and-conquer class-warfare of John Howard?

If not for the pandemic and #ScottyFromMarketing's hostility to the Queensland Labor Government, the other obvious candidate for HSR was a Coolangatta - Noosa route designed to cope with the passenger volumes of the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane.

Peter Dutton has lost. No federal opposition leader has ever lost their seat at an election...until now. Ali France won the seat of Dickson. This has to be up there with the time Scott Morrison lost his own seat of Wentworth.

The LNP is on track to receive the lowest primary vote in the history of the Coalition. Well done, Dutton.

Anthony Albanese says he'll make 90% of GP visits free from out-of-pocket expenses by 2030. This is a bargain for the government with a price-tag of only $8.5 billion. It's also a strong, traditional Labor policy for social services.

I'd like to think this is a sign that Albo is getting back to his roots, and announcing policies that will get the approval of the Greens and other left-leaning parties. It's also laying the groundwork for another "Mediscare" campaign in anticipation of Peter Dutton's toxic bullshit.

Boosting funding for bulk-billing will have massive flow-on effects for the general wellbeing of Australians: quality of life, ability to function in school and at work, and therefore a long-term payback for the economy. Anyone arguing against this policy has a deep-seated ideological hatred for "poor people" and knows nothing about the economy — I'm looking at you, Peter Dutton.

Details I'd like to hear more about:
- Mental health care funding got a boost, so it's good to see the government taking this neglected area more seriously.
- Dental health care was not mentioned, and it absolutely needs to be covered by Medicare. Teeth are a vital part of your body that require life-long care and shouldn't be at the mercy of private health insurance.
- GPs got screwed by Scott Morrison when he made a bunch of massive cuts to Medicare. The government will need to coordinate with GPs to make sure they get fair compensation for their work.
- Peter Dutton having a sook, and rolling-out that tired old lie about Labor being wasteful with money.

Dutton on the march in Victoria, say Liberals, with four seats in sight

The Malignant Potato is optimistic, to put it politely, if he thinks he can gain four seats in Victoria.
The LNP lost four seats in Victoria in the 2022 Australian federal election thanks to Scott Morrison's appalling run as PM. To put it another way, they won only 11 of the Federal seats in Victoria. Part of this was due to divisions created by Peter Dutton because he wanted to be leader.

If Dutton thinks he can win back all four seats lost by Scotty From Marketing, he's dreaming. He's so out of touch with reality that he doesn't have a clue how hated he is in Victoria. That stench isn't going away any time soon, so those seats aren't coming back any time soon.

Additionally, the Greens are improving their stance in the community, and the Teals are cementing their reputation as moderates who can co-operate to get things done. Neither the Greens nor the Teals are going to give ground to the LNP; if anything, they're going to take more. Last election, they beat the sitting LNP Treasurer, Joshua Freudenberg, and I hope they score more from LNP "safe seats" in the next election.

On top of all that, if Dutton thinks the Victorian Liberal Party can help his image, he's in for a surprise. The Victorian Liberal Party's performance in the last state election was even worse than the Federal Liberal Party's performance. Since then, things have declined so far that the Victorian Liberal Party's RWNJ faction is being sued by the Victorian Liberal Party's openly Nazi faction.

In all seriousness, this it a trial-balloon being sent-up to test people's opinions. This kerfuffle shows how divided the Liberal Party are. Factional infighting presents party members with two choices:
- Sexist, racist, old-boys-club, RWNJ wing.
- Old-school Conservative, generational privilege wing.

Those calling for Josh Frydenberg to replace Amelia Hamer as the Liberal candidate for Kooyong think it's okay to break their own party's preselection process, and are harkening-back to the "Good ol' days" of Scott Morrison. They've forgotten that Josh Frydenberg was one of the worst Federal Treasurers in living memory under the leadership of ScottyFromMarketing.

Those calling for Amelia Hamer haven't heard her say a word about policy, but they like her posh Oxford-educated credentials and good family-name. She gets to ride on the coat-tails of her grandfather, Rupert Hamer, the Premier of Victoria from 1972 to 1981.

Neither group is in touch with reality. Dr Monique Ryan won the seat of Kooyong in 2022 with a 2.9 per cent margin. The seat of Kooyong has been considered a safe Liberal seat for generations. It's why it's given to people in important roles such as Treasurer. Monique Ryan beat Josh Frydenberg because he's a fucking idiot and nobody liked his bootlicking of ScottyFromMarketing.
