Let's not sleep on the fact that the outcome of the #ScottishElection2026 was a *comprehensive rejection* of far-right politics.

The SNP and Greens together take a pro-independence majority. The moderately progressive unionist party, the LibDems made gains.

Unprincipled centrists, Labour, lost a few seats.

Reform gained 17, but the Tories lost 19, for a net *loss* of 2 seats for the brexity bigot bloc.

This is not an inevitable rise of the right by any reasonable measure.

My former MSP Ash Regan who defected from SNP to Alba, then from Alba to Independent after failed leadership bids has gone. She refused to face the electorate after each defection claiming to have a personal mandate. Very glad to have a SNP MSP again.

Listened to quite a lot of the @BylinesScotland / @BylinesCymru #ScottishElection2026 coverage. Some of the outside broadcast parts were a bit amateurish, but I thought @jennie_kermode did a really good job bringing together not just the broadcast, but the contrasting stories in the two nations.

Extremely pleased to see my vote counting in Edinburgh Central, as @ScottishGreens elect their first ever constituency MSP.

The BBC really are obsessed with Reform UK (Reform 2025 Ltd), aren’t they? Here are the Scottish Parliament election results so far, according to them.

No seats for Reform UK yet, and none ever elected previously. So why list them here?

No seats declared for the Scottish Greens yet either, but eight MSPs elected in 2021, two of whom were junior ministers in Sturgeon’s cabinet. Yet the Greens don’t get a mention here. Strange that.

After watching various Scottish 2026 election debates on the TV with the unionists saying its time for change after 20 years of the tired SNP. In my personal experience of over 50 years we should get rid of the tired Westminster union.
