Very well recorded and pressed to boot. Note, though, that the LP is missing four of the CD (or streaming) tracks.

Bill Evans, Spring Leaves, 1976 on Milestone
2xLP release from 1976 which collects two previous Riverside releases: Portrait In Jazz (1960) and Explorations (1961). This one includes two takes on “Autumn Leaves” – one which appeared in Mono (Riverside 315) and one in Stereo (Riverside 1152). This also includes “The Boy Next Door” which was left off of Explorations originally.

#BillEvans' Sunday at the Village Vanguard (1961) is a landmark album. Evans' near-telepathic interplay with bassist #ScottLaFaro and drummer #PaulMotian redefined the art of the trio. LaFaro is dazzling: the fact that he died in a car accident 11 days after the recording elevates the performances to legend. The ambient club noise is poignant; the room is tiny. Devastated by LaFaro's death, Evans didn't play again for months--and possibly never fully recovered.

Chilling sipping fine rye & #NowSpinning #WaltzForDebby by the #BillEvans Trio.
Cliché, I know, but this is my favourite of his #Riverside output. So smooth, refined & the playing is melodic & nimble.
This, from the boxset by #AnalogueProductions, is cut at 45 by #KevinGray. My set is flawless, flat, dynamic, & ‘in the room’ real.
As a Trio, there is telepathy at work here, but I find myself leaning into the playing of #ScottLaFaro.

Hard turn away from Aftermath & #NowListening to the sublime #BillEvans Trio & what may be, arguably, peak with #PortraitInJazz. For me, the highlight - in an album of highlights - is the playing of #ScottLaFaro, particularly on Autumn Leaves. Just so so inspired.
This is the #AnalogueProductions 45 from the Bill Evans Riverside Collection. This includes a replacement disk - which is, thankfully perfect. Great pressing, great SQ, great music.
