It may be harder work than what a #ScienceCommunicator / #Journalist from NPR, Forbes, vor CNN will present you with.

But I think it's more thrilling to hear straight from the researchers.

G & W? We've had women hunting - we're much more creative in terms of organising society than we've been told.

  5. Brilliant Science Writers are my heroes! Neil Turok is one of the best ever. In "The Universe Within", he writes that as a child, he "wanted to hold and capture the truth".

I am glad he now sets it free, to live in anyone who will listen and understand.

  7. This morning, a #SpaceX Cargo Dragon has docked to #ISS. Amongst the cargo are more new roll-out solar arrays to restore the aging ISS power system. #Astronauts will soon go outside and install them, like the earlier installed set shown on the far right. #NASA #space #sciencecommunicator

  8. This image from Artemis I reminded me of a quote from Neil Armstrong:

“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth.  I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth.  I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” - Neil Armstrong

  9. If Twitter’s an Irish wake, equally merry and mournful, Mastodon right now is that scene in EVERY post-apocalyptic thriller:

Survivors are emerging from the wilderness. We look grimy but buff! Ready to rebuild! Just found some of my favorite #publichealth and #ScienceCommunicator people, so I feel aware once more. Friends in #contentstrategy, it’s 2010 all over again! Next in Maslow’s hierarchy: #Outlander chat.

And we just found a generator and jugs of water in this old bomb shelter!

  10. Welcome to the #Fediverse @JennyRohn #LabLit mistress, #ScienceCommunicator extraordinaire with sass..... we are glad you are here!

  11. hokay, better #introduction.

    i'm a #radiofrequency #biomedical #engineer turned #ScienceCommunicator turned #software BA turned software people wrangler.

i live in melbourne / naarm #australia, but i'm currently in on extended leave at the other edge of the continent, in #broome / rubibi, exploring #4WDlyf and gorgeous, sunlit, crocodile-filled beaches #WelcomeToStraya.

  12. #introduction 🖖

I’ve worked at #NASA since the beginning of the #internationalspacestation , training #astronauts , #cosmonauts , and #flightcontrollers on guidance, navigation, control, and propulsion. I was a flight controller for the visiting vehicles to ISS. I co-led NASA’s instructor training program. Today, I manage instructors, software developers, #InstructionalDesigners, and video producers.

    I love teaching. I exercise those muscles as a #sciencecommunicator on #quora.

  13. : I'm a magazine journalist by training who spent her formative professional years working as a at a cancer center and at Bell Labs. Since I entered academia, I've been focused on developing interdisciplinary, community-engaged collaborations that are intended to boost computational thinking and science literacy across the curriculum. Here's a 2020 essay that sunmarizes a lot of what I think about. kimpearson.net/teaching-about-
