  1. February was a rough month for #cycling around these parts, so yesterday was the first day I was able to get out. Here are some nice highlights from the #SchuylkillRiverTrail near #valleyforge

  3. A break in the rain and clouds (the winter's been warm though) got me out for my first real #BikeRide of the year – a quick run along the #SchuylkillRiverTrail to #ValleyForge. There are two old train stations in the park, one fabulously restored and open to the public, and the other, not so much. I'm at the other.

  5. Since the pandemic hit and everyone else discovered going outside, I've mostly avoided riding the #SchuylkillRiverTrail into #philadelphia – but I had a rare weekday morning free and I've been wanting to go the distance to the #Manayunk bridge, so that's what happened today.

  7. A week off the bike for mild knee pain and less mild rain. Back at it today, but since I was dialing in new cleats I didn't feel like doing any climbing and taking a chance on torquing my knee again. Just straight out and back on the #SchuylkillRiverTrail #SRT

Met a fun guy along the way.

  8. Late start, but I got myself out on the bike yesterday and stuck to plan A, which was to start with a longish climb and then do two #RailTrails that are newly connected. Didn't set any records, but I was glad I had a lot left when the portion of trail closest to home was closed and I had to deal with rush hour traffic on a busy road at 5 PM. Good ride nonetheless.

  9. Did a 25+ mile ride today on the #schuylkillrivertrail and really enjoyed it. Was worried that’d be too much right now, but it felt very nice.

The gnats were awful but the weather was great! Hopefully I can build up to doing 80+ mile round trip overnights again.

  10. Despite wind, a late start, and basically having to stick to the #SchuylkillRiverTrail (don't like fighting with cars during the drive home in suburbia), I did get out for a quick 38km #BikeRide today. Just using this to help remind me: I don't get better by not doing it.

In addition to eagles, hawks, feral cats and a whole lot of horse poop on the trail, I saw a fox with what was either a stick with a sock wrapped around it or . . . something else.

  11. A recent #cycling encounter –#SchuylkillRiverTrail crosses a busy street, the crossing is marked and painted (but no crossing lights). Driver looks like he is coming to a stop; I check the other way and inch my bike into the crossing. Driver then dramatically slams his brakes (not close) and begins wildly gesticulating and pointing at .... the sign that tells him he has to yield to people in the crosswalk. I also pointed at the sign, then the crosswalk, and went on my way.
