Black students are more likely to be suspended than White for the same behaviors, which explains nearly half the racial disparity in school suspensions and expulsions.
Differences in school composition and differences in behavior account for 21% and 9% of the gap respectively. Black students are 3.2 times more likely to be suspended or expelled than white students.
