Home now, in a better mental state than I have been in a long while.

A good time was had by all.
So many old school friends caught up with.

Speaking with the 'girls' was a lot more relaxing than I recall.

There was an inordinate amount of discussion around our experiences with corporal punishment, with some hilarious stories around our favourite teachers and horrific stories, especially regarding some teachers in the high schools we went on to attend.

The dinner dance was good. The primary school alumni band consisted of an ex Masters Apprentices, an ex Twilights, and an ex Radio/TV host. The downside for me was it was 50s and early 60s numbers, and those had saturated my brain a long time ago.
I did have a short chat with the bassist at a break.

Home now, in a better mental state than I have been in a long while.

A good time was had by all.
So many old school friends caught up with.

Today, millions of kids walked out the door for the first day of school.

I still remember it. Shoes that had not softened yet. A schoolbag heavier than I was. That mix of nervous and excited that only a first day gives you.

Here is what I know now that I did not know then. That feeling does not belong only to children.

Every adult who sits down to learn something new gets it too. The blank page. The shaky start. The quiet voice asking whether you are too late for this.

You are not.

So to every kid today, and to every one of my students who decided this year is the year:

It would let you exactly control and see the formatting of the document. It totally addressed the issues in Word of mucking up a document the moment you drop in an image.

Word afaik still doesn’t truly have such an ergonomic view. WordPerfect still maintains a niche in Legal and Education/Academia use because of the entrenched use of these formatting features.

It would let you exactly control and see the formatting of the document. It totally addressed the issues in Word of mucking up a document the moment you drop in an image.

Word afaik still doesn’t truly have such an ergonomic view. WordPerfect still maintains a niche in Legal and Education/Academia use because of the entrenched use of these formatting features.

growing up in ontario in the 90s, I was taught WordPerfect and QuattroPro.

in elementary school my ‘dog ate my homework’ was that I’d bring my file on a diskette w/ a .doc from Word from home and be like ‘OoOooOppssss I can’t print it I’ll have to bring it tomorrow as RTF’ (and then actually do the book report) – I am no longer this lame we can blame the cloud now.
