or at least highly fash-curious.(And only a few of its participants would be mad if you did.)
At least officially, Europe’s major far-right parties kept their distance from the whole affair:
Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in France avoids the term entirely,
and Germany’s AfD took a P.R. battering after an earlier remigration event in 2023.So it was mostly a bunch of Euro-prep dweebs from way more marginal parties,
including Austrian remigration guru

But the ideological and philosophical lineage of these people is not difficult to trace.

On top of that, there is the conundrum of how to respond to American interference in Europe. Yes, AfD politicians welcomed J. D. Vance’s speech at the Munich Security Conference, but they understand that the pursuit of the American national interest will come at Europe’s — and thus Germany’s — expense. Washington clearly does not abide by the principle of nonintervention it enforces in its own so-called backyard.
Embracing Schmitt’s theory of great spaces does not, in fact, help to resolve any of these matters. Ultimately, there was always a tension in Schmitt’s thought. He argued for equality between great spaces but also envisioned an eternal battle between land powers like Germany and sea powers like Britain and the United States — a life-or-death struggle he ardently wanted Germany and its continental European sphere to win. It is in this contradiction, which can be found too in the Right’s simultaneous embrace of ethnopluralism and white supremacism, that the Schmittians remain caught.
It is thus unclear how Germany’s most recent infatuation with Schmitt’s order of great spaces will translate into political practice. Whether it is the far-right or centrist Schmittians who end up running the show, the likely outcome is not territorial annexation but economic hegemony. The result may be a return to the 2010s, when the centrist Schmittian Herfried Münkler played a key role in promoting German hegemony — as the Greeks remember all too well. Indeed, during that period, Münkler advised Wolfgang Schäuble, the conservative architect of externally imposed austerity and the federal debt brake."

« Une politique d’austérité, dogmatique, qui aggrave la crise et la misère ; un pouvoir exécutif qui fait adopter des mesures de destruction du modèle social à coups de 48-2 ; une gauche sociale-démocrate qui soutient cette politique afin, dit-elle, d’éviter le pire ; un régime politique qui (…) se présidentialise et concentre des pouvoirs exorbitants dans les mains faillibles d’un homme pas exagérément intelligent, mais orgueilleux et buté ; le règne des entourages qui, par une logique de darwinisme inversé, celle de la courtisanerie, promeut les plus incompétents et les moins dignes, ceux qui sont prêts à s’avilir pour devenir des « conseillers » et donner dès lors à peu près tout autre chose que de réels conseils ; une dissolution ratée ; une seconde dissolution, dangereuse, inepte, vu le contexte de croissance de l’extrême droite, mais demandée par cette même extrême droite, et accordée en gage de bonne volonté ; une défaite cuisante aux législatives ; le refus de tenir compte des résultats des élections ; la condamnation des « extrêmes » et la précision, immédiate, que certains sont plus extrêmes que d’autres, que ceux qui défendent la nation, les valeurs et la propriété seront toujours préférables à la gauche ; un milliardaire, magnat des médias et habité par une mission de résurrection nationale, qui bâtit un empire de presse et de cinéma pour imposer ses cadrages, ses thèmes et sa ligne à un pays qui plébiscitait la paix et la justice sociale (…); des paniques morales en -isme comme le « bolchevisme culturel », que l’on est bien en peine de définir, mais qui résume toutes les peurs liées à l’évolution des mœurs (féminisme, homosexualité, mode de vie urbain…) et à l’élévation générale du niveau d’éducation ; un gouvernement renversé dans des conditions humiliantes ; une autre dissolution, une autre défaite et, derechef, le refus de tenir compte du résultat ; un gouvernement chargé des affaires courantes qui s’éternise ; (…) l’incapacité du président à nommer un nouveau chef du gouvernement ; des mois de réflexion, au sommet de l’État, pour échafauder le meilleur scénario qui permette de rester au pouvoir, malgré les élections et en l’absence de majorité ; une politique de l’offre, ouvertement pro-business, faite de subventions aux entreprises et de crédits d’impôt ; des discours auto-justificateurs qui défendent cette ligne en clamant « nous ne sommes pas le gouvernement des riches » et « la meilleure politique sociale, c’est la politique de l’emploi » ; un patronat qui applaudit et qui en réclame toujours plus ; des projets de réforme de la Constitution dans le sens d’un renforcement du pouvoir exécutif ; des intrigues de couloir permanentes ; un commentariat qui bavasse sur l’humeur du président, son dernier rhume ou l’ultime grommellement en date (éternuement ? fulgurance politique ? décision majeure ?) en quête d’oracle et d’interprétation ; des libéraux autoritaires qui, au pouvoir, envisagent le recours à la force, car ils savent bien que leur politique est impopulaire ; ces mêmes libéraux autoritaires qui souhaitent faire alliance avec l’extrême droite, qui reculent car elle en veut trop, et font finalement le pari de lui confier le pouvoir… »

Recently he has been promoting the idea of a first Artemis landing at a non-polar site which would be less technically challenging that a polar ridge.
