First tasting of the newest local brew: #Braugarten Zwickl. Very decent carbonization w/ stable head. Golden color. Sufficiently hoppy with a slight touch of maltiness.

I used to be more directly involved in this hobby brewery some years ago, but have been relegated to "first taster" due to time constraints 😉

#RockCity Koene Ridder American Tripel vs. Second Date Refurbished Double IPA.

Koene Ridder: a bit too "citrusy" for my understanding of a Tripel, but maybe that's the "American" part (i.e. hops).

Second Date: "Refurbished" because they re-used hops from a previous brew (an IPA).

I just realized that I have had very few beers by #Mikkeller up until now. A few years ago, I had a bottle of a collab between them and #Lindemans (SpontanBasil). So it was probably a good idea to pick up these two cans the other day. Burst IPA vs. Hop Shop Hazy IPA.

Disingenious placement of the importer's supplemental label though.

The BLND is made with Rauchmalz, and the Amber is brewed to fit the traditional 🇧🇪 beer style (think #Palm)

All Barbier beers are sold at barber shops across the NL, as well as in liquor stores, bars, etc.

For tonight: #Timmermans (#Itterbeek, 🇧🇪) Oude Kriek (2003). This has been sitting in my basement for almost 20 years now, so I am expecting a smooth and rounded taste.

As you all know, "Old" Kriek or Geuze is not actually older than others. The "old" indicates that it is an "old-fashioned" or "traditional" product with no added sugar or sweeteners.

#TGIF with #Paderborner (:flag_de:) Geselle auf der Walz ("Journeyman on the Road") vs. Liborius Dunkel (Liborius is the city's patron saint).

I'm mildly curious about these two as the brewery is not generally held in very high esteem. Most people (myself included) in #Germany probably only know their Pilsner, which is sold nationwide (usually in cans) as a slightly better alternative to off-brand discount brews. #BeerNerd #schlueckglueckglueck

UPDATE: The "Light" is incredibly bland, very close to a random German Pilsner. The "Dark" is somewhat "tastier", albeit at the cost of having "flavors" and "coloration" added. Some roasted bread, some mild coffee.
