It's one year now since October 7.

I remember the day a lot.

I tried now for a long time to write something that honors the gravity of what happened then. To mourn the dead and the horror.

I want to comfort the Jews out there that have dark feelings, but who I didn't reach out personally.

I am not good enough with words, maybe.

But I think about you.

You are not alone. We will protect you with the possibilities we have. We want you to live among us, to learn from your ancient, but vibrant culture, to be amazed by your long traditions, to celebrate your holidays with you. You are our neighbours and it is our duty to make you feel safe. Let me tell you that, if somebody wants to harm you, we wont let it happen. And there are many of us that don't want you to feel bitterness and abandonment.

PD: The ones that know me, know that if anybody tries to understand my words as unconditional support for any government engaging willfully in the spiral of violence, they are wrong. And yes, we need to mourn the Palestinian (and now Lebanese) victims too. Especially since the Israeli military caused approximately one October 7th every two weeks. And the Israeli right-wing government tried very hard to make mourning for Israeli victims difficult. But they didn't succeed. This is about human beings.
