Anyone tried Vitour tires for autocross?
They seem to be popular locally, sticky but wear well. Being referred to as the 'cheaters of cheaters'. Banned in SCCA I'm told? One of our local drivers did well this last weekend.
They didn't have the size that I wanted and I've changed the entire suspension so didn't want to end up with a different rolling diameter at the same time - too many changes all at once. Otherwise probably would have gone that route.
Supposedly they don't light off quickly - if sharing a car be the second driver. 😜 🙃

Down the rabbit hole researching cars again - as one does. Been on a kick of collecting brochures for the first generation Mercury Cougar, C3-C4-C5 Corvettes, first and second generation Camaro and Firebird, European Ford Capri, and Fiat X1/9.
I found it interesting that the Cougar brochures directly called the car a 'sports car'. I was surprised by this. It could be marketing mis-nomer or appropriation. Nowadays I think we consider these a muscle car or a GT car if you are of that mind set. But not 'sporty' per se.
I also read that they were successful in SCCA Trans Am racing. So much so that Ford pulled the plug on the Mercury racing team after the first season or two in order to allow the Mustang to prevail.
They are the same car under the skin - the only dynamic differences would be the longer wheelbase and the longer front and rear over hangs. Would affect high speed stability and polar moment of inertia I guess.

Ran in the second #BridgeCityAutosports #Autocross with my #Nissan350Z. Took first again in my class, though it was pouring down rain and I landed somewhere in the 30s for PAX times. Car performed well. I figured out more of the #SoloStorm idiosyncrasies, and I'll be better set for the next #OregonRegion #SCCA event. I even put down my fastest time carrying a passenger who wanted to film some high quality video. Overall, another great event.

While its production specs claim a respectable 290hp from the 4.9L V8, it's known for feeling much punchier (and often posting higher numbers on the dyno.)
