Edinburgh Fringe again; always comes around so fast. Several years ago, I started outlining a potential #Scarfolk show for the Fringe, but it sort of fizzled away, unfortunately.

The AusAlert Test was a missed opportunity to send a public broadcast in the style of @scarfolk to everyone's phone, such as "For more information, please turn over."
-
@NanoRaptor strong #Scarfolk vibes with this one

The town mayor is in another phase of pitching.
Busy couple of weeks.
Keep your fingers crossed. -
Going through old files, I just stumbled across these 2001: A Space Odyssey / 1970s kids' TV mashups. No recollection of doing them. They must have been stuff intended for #Scarfolk, but got forgotten.

@cstross @Richard_Littler #Scarfolk would struggle to create something as cursed as that 😁

I tried #Grokipedia. Just once. I looked up #Scarfolk. Grok took a kernel of truth - a real news report about Scarfolk - but completely invented all the details including a poster, graphic, and title/slogan that don't exist. Grok then repeats the story further down but with contradictory details.

This reads like straight from #Scarfolk

#Scarfolk has been in and out of development with so many different production companies over the years that one of those currently interested in it doesn't realise they already had the rights/option over a decade ago.

"#Anthropic Settles Major AI Copyright Suit Brought by Authors"
Precedent set?
Both of my #Scarfolk books were downloaded and pirated from the LibGen 'shadow library'.
Compensation would be nice.
Anyone aware of other class-action lawsuits I can join, or have any other legal pointers? -
Haha. On Amazon's (DE) product page for the #Scarfolk Annual, there is a Product Safety warning.
"Warning: Do not use near overhead power lines..." -
@bodhipaksa @Alternatecelt I vaguely remember seeing the posters with these funny letters in my primary school in England in late 1970s - but I don't think it was widely used or if it was it might have only been for "slow readers" - I could already read before I started school so never bothered with it.
TBH in a modern context it almost looks like an attempt to reintroduce "Old English" that the tradfash might try..
(this picture looks like something straight out of #Scarfolk )

@rubenbolling For more information please reread.

Can't say too much right now, but something just happened in US politics that I literally pitched almost word-for-word to the producer who's currently packaging a potential #Scarfolk series in the US.
We live in absurd times. -
Both of my #Scarfolk books were pirated by #Meta to train #AI. Will we ever be free of these tech-bro parasites?
You can check if you're also affected here: https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2025/03/search-libgen-data-set/682094/ -
As it's #WorldBookDay I thought I'd mention I've written 2 #Scarfolk books. Having just checked, Discovering Scarfolk seems to have gone out of print*. The Annual's still in print. Book 3? Rights available if interested. I've also written a novel, yet to find a publisher, with 2 new novels on the go.
*Just before it would have started, finally, to pay out royalty payments.
Want to get rich? Or even just reach the heady heights of minimum wage?
Don't write books.
Thank you coming to my TEDTalk. -
There was some interest in adapting #scarfolk as a #videogame a few years ago, but nothing came of it, unfortunately. Probably my fault, but only now do I feel that the tech has caught up enough to adequately render the world and offer the gaming experience I'd want.

The more I play immersive, open-world #videogames, the more I think #Scarfolk is well suited to that format. The entire town/environs to explore, an overarching satirical narrative, darkly odd side missions to complete. The basic narrative, tone, artworks, & even the maps already exist. #PS5 #Xbox

@networkstring It's all beginning to give off some serious #scarfolk vibes...
For more information, please reread.

Wow, apparently I launched #Scarfolk on this day 12 years ago.
