All well and good, but… it will not address the root cause that afflicts First Nations and Torres Straight Islanders, amongst others, in all facets of social life in Australia: #racism.

What is needed is a national campaign (a la AIDS epidemic and Littering campaigns of old) to call out all forms of racism and shame anyone holding such views or behaving in accordance with those views. And for this to be a standing campaign over a number of years. It needs to be knocked out of our society period.

Anything else is tinkering around the edges. It doesn’t solve the problem. It merely shoves it back into the cupboard to be brought out again when #ScapeGoating is required for political mileage or blame shifting.

Australia will always be a racist country until 1) racism is made a major crime with severe penal consequences; 2) society is educated to know it as abhorrent and vile and will not be tolerated; 3) it is called out *every* time whenever it is seen; and 4) every member of our society is supported in bringing every racists to face the Courts without impediments.

Racism must be erradicated from our society for its better good. It can be done.
