Almost got scammed by an email invitation to "Punchbowl Invitation: [Friend Name] Birthday Party".
The tip off was them asking me to sign into my Gmail account which I was already signed into. Emailed and asked for confirmation that it was her; turns out she'd had her Gmail account 'hacked' a week or so ago.

Just received an obvious scam email (happens a lot, this is just particularly stupid).
Payload, apparently, in an attached PDF. Instructions say "If you have any questions regarding this payment, contact the sender by reply".
The reply email is "[email protected]".
(In fact I suspect many recipients wouldn't see the actual email so it might be effective).
Turns out http://noreply.com is for sale - not cheap! -
Here is a really effective looking #ScamEmail from a #Gumtree account:

Artists: This email is a well-known scam.
Usually this scammer targets creatives with old ArtStation accounts. This year, they're using Sendfox. You should NEVER talk to them on telegram or discord.
Can't screenshot the whole thing but it always opens like this. Alt text has the opener.
Also HOPR Studios has nothing to do with this. The scammer slots in whatever creative job sounds hot that year.

MyGov scams proliferate because people don't know how to spot them. I got a scam (and spotted it), but I've used it to write a quick guide to help others avoid them. Might seem obvious to you... but these work because people fall for them, and I HATE that this happens.

On this "beware of the internet" day, I wanted to share a scam email I got yesterday. It looked really convincing.
1. It had the email address of my actual amazon account (redacted).
2. Branding etc. was very nice.Issues with it:
1. The from address, of course, was not legit.
2. Normal emails from Amazon start "Hello Emily" not "Hi <email address>.
3. The signoff said "sincerly" not "sincerely".
4. It was telling me I had to do something urgently or I would lose access. -
This is, perhaps, the funniest email I have ever received. Streams must be way down...

New type of nigerian scam (419) - scamming people who supposedly got scammed before and telling them they're eligible for $4.8m of compensation.
Yes, you've read it correct.
