Day 3

Well firstly, I messed up some of the tags for Day 2...

One slightly annoying thing that I forgot on my journey, usb... I could not plug in the phone into the car... it insisted on using some non existing network and would disconnect my network connections.

Anyway, Day 3 though... The only thing of note is, I ran into some issue with #peanutbutter ... I don't know exactly what happened... but I had to do a hard reset due to peanutbutter working but not taking inputs. For all the months I've used peanutbutter.. this is a first. I'm chaulking it up to a random fluke.

Speaking on battery... I'm spoiled. As a #pinephone refugee, I was used to paying extra attention to battery usage. Which is why I've always really dug #tui software (it has zero about how neat I find them as well /s). So, as I turned off suspend for my journey, I plumb ass forgor to turn it back on today... and ish was actually fine... like I used only like 50% of the battery with zero suspending. I didn't do a lot but my activities today:

GPS to a place around the corner
Spend most of the day chatting on #weechat #gomuks and mms/sms. I kept tabs on my M$ apps for work via web apps as well as made a few replies. That said, I missed zero calls (fuck scammers and promote #scambaiting ), I had zero sms or mms get stuck in the modem. We'll see how tomorrow goes with suspend on.

I realised yesterday that @kitboga , who is a famous "scambaiter" is able to do his entertaining videos by exploiting the same human flaws that the scammers use themselves.

Mainly, that after you are on the lure and start trusting the scammer (or kitboga) on any level, you brain will make it very hard to remove the trust as long as the other side does not do or say something to you which will want you to reduce trust.

Scambaiters like Kitboga and the old 419eater exemplifies and does this for great entertainment and for a good cause, mainly imposing cost on the scammers.

But if you listen to the first episode of Economist's Scam Inc you will hear examples of how it goes the other way.

Later in the series they discuss how the scammers have playbooks which allow them to industrialise the scamming, and it made me think about the similarly to how kitboga built his bot network. Find a working playbook and just scale up.

I don't have a point with this I think, it's just a reflection and something I want to think about more. Humans have not evolved for this world and it's causing lots of societal problems.

Today, I got a video call on Telegram from my scammer. She is the person, or at least is visually very close to, the person in all the photos I've been getting. It was clear from the white background and other factors that she was in an office , probably in a booth designed for such calls. She mostly wanted to talk about whether I had downloaded the wallet and if I was ready for her to "teach" me how to invest.

I sent fake screenshots showing I had bought 2200 USDT (I bought 2 to get the proper layout for the balance screen). After it was done, I had the wallet addresses associated with this particular scam, and finally had the last of my IoCs. But I felt emotionally void. What a life these scammers must lead,.

I cannot tell from demeanor whether the scammer is one of those who have had their passports taken away by the gangs that run these scams in Cambodia or if she was an entrepeneur. Her English was good and not accented, and did not match the English usage of some of the chat messages, so I have some indication that this is a farm operation.

I will say that it appears at least one of the wallets involved in this scam, which is only a month or so old, has had$1.8 m worth of crypto flow through it. So there are still a lot of people falling for these scams, More to come as I get my report ready for publication.
