  1. Dim-witted fishing on Sawtell beach leads to entanglement of native bird

A small strip of coastal bush separates the beach from suburbia. Various wildlife still exists there. The Australian brush turkey (Alectura lathami) and wallabies try to survive in this small patch. Roaming dogs are allowed to chase the shorebirds and marsupials. At the main entry to the beach the native vegetation is eliminated to make way for more commerce and exotic weeds.

  6. Beach safety for humans in a more-than-human world
Have drones at the beach, repel birds

Beachgoers are warned with larges signs of a drone operating at Sawtell beach. The warning posters for the aerial operations states that they have the rationale to keep human beings safe. The unmanned aerial vehicle makes an irritating buzzing sound while flying over the heads of beachgoers.

The beauty of Sawtell beach is usually to share the ambience with shorebirds, birds of prey and little terns. With the loud gadget droning up and down the beach no bird or endangered shorebird was visible or audible. The scarecrow in the sky, the jet skis and car on the sand make sure the beach is just for one species alone.

  7. #SawtellBeach is a very nice beach to swim, surf or watch wildlife. White-bellied sea eagles can be seen patrolling the surf close to shore. Little terns can be viewed south of Sawtell Headland. Wallabies and turkeys patrol the coastal bush and dunes. Local swimmers swim along the horizon like dolphins. Surfers enjoy a good surf.
Often but especially in the holiday season vehicles feel free to drive on the beach from the southern end at the Bonville Headland. They do a few rapid loops and chase off toddlers and wildlife. Finally a sign has been erected to stop cars from racing along the main beach. Still one is not safe on this part of the beach.
Today, #ebikes with fat tyres ploughed along the beach. It is turning a unique beach to become another vehicular thoroughfare. Wildlife disappear and #pedestrians have to jump out of the way.
    Let's keep #Sawtell #beach free of #vehicles - #fossilfuel or battery.
