Lucy, a Small Soul Trying to Survive in Gaza 🐾🤍

In Gaza, suffering does not belong to humans alone. The war has also left countless animals struggling to survive—without safe shelter, enough food, clean water, or access to veterinary care.

Among them is our beloved cat, Lucy. 🐱

Lucy lives with us inside our simple tent. She is not just a pet; she is part of our family. She shares our fear, our hunger, and the uncertainty of each day. Yet despite everything around her, she still brings a little warmth and innocence into our difficult lives.

Lucy needs proper food, medical care, and important vaccinations. But with our loss of income and the overwhelming needs of our family, I can no longer provide everything she needs on my own.

She, too, is a victim of these circumstances. She deserves to be cared for, protected, and given the chance to stay healthy.

Any contribution, no matter how small, can help Lucy receive food and the medical care she needs. 🐾🤍

La Giornata Mondiale del Tapiro, celebrata ogni anno il 27 aprile, torna anche nel 2026 con nuove storie, progetti e iniziative dedicate a uno degli animali più antichi e sorprendenti del pianeta. La ricorrenza, nata nel 2008 grazie a organizzazioni internazionali impegnate nella tutela della fauna selvatica, ha l’obiettivo di far conoscere meglio i tapiri e di sostenere le azioni per proteggerli dall’estinzione.

🌍 Perché proprio il 27 aprile?

La data è stata scelta in onore di April, un tapiro di Baird nato in Belize, simbolo nazionale e amatissimo dagli ambientalisti. La sua nascita ricorre proprio il 27 aprile, trasformato così in un giorno dedicato alla celebrazione e alla protezione di tutti i tapiri del mondo.

🐾 Novità e curiosità per il 2026

Il 2026 porta con sé nuove iniziative che arricchiscono la celebrazione:

• Programmi di conservazione rafforzati: continuano i progetti internazionali per proteggere le quattro specie di tapiro esistenti, tutte considerate in pericolo di estinzione.
• Focus sul tapiro malese, il più raro e l’unico asiatico, con campagne dedicate alla tutela del suo habitat frammentato.
• Coinvolgimento del pubblico: come nel caso del Bioparc Fuengirola, che nel 2025 ha lanciato una votazione per scegliere il nome di un cucciolo di tapiro malese — iniziativa che nel 2026 viene riproposta da diversi parchi zoologici per sensibilizzare i visitatori.
• Nuove attività educative online: la community internazionale di World Tapir Day continua a crescere, con eventi digitali, dirette social e materiali informativi per far conoscere il ruolo ecologico dei tapiri, veri “giardinieri delle foreste”.

🌱 Perché i tapiri sono così importanti?

Oltre al loro aspetto buffo e preistorico, i tapiri svolgono un ruolo fondamentale negli ecosistemi tropicali: disperdono semi, modellano la vegetazione e contribuiscono alla salute delle foreste. Proteggerli significa proteggere interi habitat.

Ostatnio dużo się mówi o patoschroniskach, fundacjach, wiecznych zbiórkach i wyłudzaniu pieniędzy na zwierzęta jako alternatywy do uczciwej pracy na etacie. My nie prowadzimy wielu zbiórek. Mamy jedną główną i czasem okazyjne na leczenie konkretnego zwierzaka. Są to zbiórki głównie na opiekę weterynaryjną, której koszty są naprawdę ogromne. A chcemy zapewnić naszym podopiecznym najlepszych specjalistów. Z wpłat udaje się pokryć 10, może 20 % tych kosztów. Resztę płacimy sami. Tak samo jak z prywatnych pieniędzy kupujemy karmy, żwirki, leki itp.

Zebrałam rachunki za samych weterynarzy, tylko z marca i kwietnia. Wyszło ponad 3 tysiące zł. Były to m.in. badania echa serca i krwi Maksymiliana po jego zapaści i odratowaniu go cudem (prawdopodobnie uczulił się na lek usypiający, który miał podawany do rtg), jego kolejna kontrola ortopedyczna i zdjęcie rtg, liczne wizyty okulistyczne dla Manula, kontynuacja leczenia Pana Kota, rozpoczęcie leczenia Mrocznej Pani oraz leczenie i amputacja łapki Krokusa.

Szczerze mówiąc nie dajemy już rady. Musimy wybierać czyje leczenie jest ważniejsze i pilniejsze. Bardzo potrzebujemy Waszego wsparcia.
