  1. CW: nudity. weird shit.

    Commission work for furaffinity.net/user/qerw.

The mad scientist continues her head-based experiments. This time it seems that swapping heads with a sauropod body comes with unforeseen balancing issues.

  2. We’ve Found #Sauropod Stomach Contents For The First Time, Revealing They Had Terrible Manners
#Sauropods as a group span around 130 million years of time, but this one came from the Winton Formation of Queensland in #Australia, home to animals that lived during the mid-Cretaceous. It appears that they were walking around with “gastric furnaces” that could break down food thanks to #fermentation and #microbes in the gut – no chewing required.

  4. I can't NOT post this to sauropds.win: New #paleoart for #FossilFriday: BRONTOSMASH! II: the BRONTOSMASHENING. High-resolution version just posted to #patreon along with lots of discussion about the apatosaur neck combat hypothesis: patreon.com/posts/120678428

HT to @mike, because I believe he likes this sort of thing.

  5. Introducing Titanomachya gimenezi paleonerdish.wordpress.com/202 paper: tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10 by @Ferwen

"Titanosaurian #sauropods exhibit a remarkable body size disparity in the Late #Cretaceous of #SouthAmerica. Some of them were the largest #animals ever to walk the Earth. In central Patagonia, there was a coexistence of small bodied and larger bodied #titanosaurs. A new specimen, Titanomachya gimenezi, sheds light on the poorly sampled #sauropod fauna from central #Patagonia."

  6. today I learned I had Limusaurus (Late Jurassic Chinese theropod) , Limaysaurus ("mid"-Cretaceous Patagonian rebbachisaur), and Lessemsaurus (Late Triassic Argentine sauropodomorph) confused. 3 different dinosaurs from 3 different places, but with similar names.

  11. New #Cretaceous-Era #Titanosaur Species Discovered in Argentina sci.news/paleontology/inawentu

A rebbachisaurid-mimicking titanosaur and evidence of a Late Cretaceous faunal disturbance event in South-West #Gondwana sciencedirect.com/science/arti

"A genus and species of rebbachisaurid-mimicking titanosaurian #sauropod that stretched over 15 m has been unearthed in #Patagonia, #Argentina."

    A new gigantic #titanosaurian #sauropod from the early Late #Cretaceous of #Patagonia app.pan.pl/article/item/app010

"Bustingorrytitan shiva has an estimated body mass of 67.3 metric tons, which makes it one of the largest #sauropod #dinosaurs ever recorded. Gigantic #titanosaurs were an important component of the Cretaceous dinosaur faunas of Patagonia, at least for almost 50 million years"

  13. Today's random portfolio artwork is "Wrong Place Wrong Time," which shows the moment of death for one of two Sauroposeidon. This was my first ever Zbrush sculpture illustration (2012).

    sci.news/paleontology/garumbat

New sauropod dinosaur from the Lower Cretaceous of #Morella (Spain) provides new insights on the evolutionary history of Iberian somphospondylan titanosauriforms academic.oup.com/zoolinnean/ad

"#Garumbatitan morellensis is one of the most primitive members of a group of #sauropods called #Somphospondyli, which corresponds to one of the most diverse and abundant groups during the #Cretaceous"

  15. #African #FossilFriday

#Sauropods are the most awe-inspiring of #dinosaurs, #evolving into the largest land #animals of all time. One of the most important #fossils for understanding #sauropod origins comes from Lake #Kariba on the #Zimbabwe/#Zambia border (the #bones come from the Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 side of the lake). The early sauropod found there was named Vulcanodon karibaenesis and it's a rare window into the early #Jurassic world of the oldest sauropods.

  16. the necks go up
    the necks go down
the necks go back and forth
    the necks sweep all around

    What did they do
    with their long, long necks
    those long lost beasts
    of time so deep?

    there's nothing today alive
    quite like a sauropod
    did they reach out,
    or did they reach high?

    what did Tanystropheus,
    or Elasomosaurus
    do with their necks,
    in seas so long ago?

  17. If you love #dinosaurs, don't forget to check out the #TerribleLizards #podcast by Iszi Lawrence and Dave Hone. They talk to Prof Paul Upchurch. Be warned, exploding #sauropod heads are a theme...

So is Paul's #disability and if you know someone who think they can't get into #STEM because of one, let them listen to this!
