The biblical concept of satyrs intertwines classical mythology and ancient Near Eastern beliefs, evolving through translations, notably in the King James Version. These hybrid creatures symbolize nature’s untamed aspects but have been reinterpreted in modern scholarship. #satyrs #bible #greekmyth https://youtu.be/04DOSwrz_x0?si=kRdwvfjyJjrgLsXb

Have a joyful #DayOfDionysos here at Erotic Mythology! 🍇
"Put vines on it for me with bunches of grapes on them [. . .] the #Satyrs laughing, Erotes (Loves) all in gold, Kythere [Aphrodite] laughing together with handsome Lyaios [#Dionysos], #Eros and #Aphrodite."

Here’s a piece I did in the style of #ArchaicGreek #pottery. It was for a client & friend’s term paper (he got an A+). It shows him as a #herm with #Eros frolicking with #satyrs.

"How can you have #Satyrs, #Minotaurs, and #Centaurs, and depict them all as potentially good and heroic characters? Where is the mythological precedent for that?"

CW: Gay Erotic Art
A piece I did for a fella’s art history final. He got an “A”!
Done up like an #archaic Greek style vase, it features a #herm w/ the patron’s bust, frolicking #satyrs with #Eros. #EroticArt #GayEroticArt #GayArtist -
Some people might question why #satyrs, #Herne and other hornéd archetypes of the hidden world are so fond of the #woods - surely something bipedal with antlers would find the branches endlessly frustrating?
But would they fare any better, #tricksters and hunters, sneaking towards their quarry amongst the long grasses?

It's the Day of Hermes aka Mercurius Day aka #Wednesday!
#Hermes and a #satyr on their way home from the #NewYearsParty 😉
Perhaps it is one of his three sons known as the Satyroi Hermeides, #satyrs who became the messengers of Dionysos.

@timrichards
Look, the Forum Theatre it ain’t.
Maybe, instead of gutting it the could add some extra #Kitsch? Frescos of #Satyrs and #Nymphs. Some #Grottos surrounded by plastic-leafed #Laurel bushes. A giant #Harp that anyone can have a play of if they want. If the decided to go in that direction I reckon I’d be happy to make the trek to #WestBrunswick once in a while. -
6. #Satyrs (שָׂעִיר֙)
Isaiah 13
"But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and ostriches shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there."Isaiah 34
"And the wild beasts of the desert shall meet with the wolves, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; yea, the night-monster shall settle there, and shall find her a place of rest"
