I saw (admittedly from a distance) the garden’s Satin Bower Bird today - he seemed to be doing some maintenance on the bower and has brought along even more blue plastic things.

Everyone in South East Australia is familiar with male Satin Bowerbirds - beautiful deep blue feathers. This is a female Satin Bowerbird - totally different! Still gorgeous though.

Just spied this lovely male Satin Bowerbird in a tree near our veranda in the morning sunlight.

Male Satin Bowerbird in the backyard late this afternoon. Seemed to be having a lovely time eating the weeds.
The female briefly landed in front of me on the veranda railing, and 5 Crimson Rosellas we on various perches nearby.
That was, until the Pied Currawong turned up and everyone else scarpered.

A few birds spotted from the veranda this morning in the space of about 10 mins.
One of our usual Pied Currawongs, who was being attacked by Bell Miners (the yellowy bird on the wire). A male Satin Bowerbird way off on top of a palm tree, and the male King Parrot that has been visiting recently.

This female satin bowerbird decided that the sweet treats to be found in the Cocos Palm next to our house were all hers and decided to push home the point.
Unfortunately for her, the Blue-faced Honeyeater had friends, who not long after this altercation, came to help and the bowerbird lost her dominance.

On our walk this morning, I saw the male Satin Bowerbird maintaining his bower. (in the shot of the bower, he's inside).
Tricky place to get a decent angle on though, due to surrounding foliage.
